Your light puts a yellow tinge on your models - I suggest getting a more whiter bulb to turn up a true light look. Kinder looks like you've sprayed white and added a wash of Agrax or Sephia. Other than that, great video!

Thanks Zack - I've upgraded my lights since then so hopefully newer videos are better!

I just subscribed to your channel. I have started painting miniatures again after 25 years away. I was never much good. I am currently doing a Skeleton Horde starter box. Your tutorial here on the ghostly shades will help with my mounted units and the big guy in the box. Do you water down your paints when doing the skulls and vines and such or are those all inks or washes?

Hi Jason - thanks for the sub and welcome back to the hobby! I tems not to thin the contrast paints here - just moderate the amount I have on my brush I talk about it in my latest video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3jPYpVjfZyAmKs Hope that helps!

You’re a really great painter! I was wondering if when you get the chance if you could do a video on the Bork’an sept for the Tau? There isn’t anything on the citadel color app for them.

Thanks for the kind words! I don't have plans too, maybe in the future! In the meantime i found this - does it help? images.app.goo.gl/NfXiLkCeUfrteZkZA

I have four banshees built on the table right now. Took plenty of gap filling. I am thinking of some non ethereal paint schemes.I picked up ten sprues of them cheap on Ebay, so I can have a play.

Great video, this should really help my friend to paint his first minis ^^ Quick question, can i use any white primer or should i use citadels contrast wraithbone/grey seer spray?
@ThePaintingCoach9 ай бұрын
Any white primer will do - but it will help if it's smooth

Nice result. Is that a Red Grass Games brush that you're using for the layers?
@ThePaintingCoach4 жыл бұрын
Cheers - yes it is - I bought one to give it a go - not sure how I feel about it just yet - it's decent and works well, not sure on the staying power
@RotGolem4 жыл бұрын
@@ThePaintingCoach Same here, I got it from their latest KS, and used it only for a few minis using Contrast paints. It performed admirably, but I also really fear it's gonna bust quickly, so for a while it's "on hold" for some work with classic acrylic paints
@ThePaintingCoach4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's not an every day brush
@ch4pl41n84 жыл бұрын
Did you use nihls straight out the pot? I've done the dagger and Basque the same as the banshee as I don't see them as solid objects.
@ThePaintingCoach4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment John - correct - straight out of the pot - just need to make sure it spreads about before it dries!

Yours look pretty good! I've tried this a few times but with that much white drybrushing it always ends up looking chalky :(
@ThePaintingCoach4 жыл бұрын
Thank you - I think the softer make up brushes help - a harder brush leaves more chalk I find
@XavierArnau3994 жыл бұрын
@@ThePaintingCoach yeah since the last time I tried this scheme I've got the makeup brushes. I guess I'll have to try!
@ThePaintingCoach4 жыл бұрын

@ProjeKtWEREWOLF4 жыл бұрын
Slightly damp brush helps with this, as does a soft makeup brush.
@ianhorst4 жыл бұрын
I get the make up brushes from UK pound shops. Less chalky results and much cheaper than traditional dry brushes.

I love the banshee models but the one thing that bothers me is the bases they are so over the top and detailed and I prefer to do my own bases :/
@ThePaintingCoach4 жыл бұрын
Yeah i hear you! There is a lot of detail - weird that the model themselves is an easy to build pudh fit, but the base is super detailed and a lot to paint!
@rybo00724 жыл бұрын
@@ThePaintingCoach not sure if you'd be able to but could you do a video on how to remove the bases to create your own?
@Oliver-wm3kt4 жыл бұрын
Hello just wondering if it would work without the white base
@ThePaintingCoach4 жыл бұрын
It might work with just grey - you'll just have to do some extra dry brushing
@Oliver-wm3kt4 жыл бұрын
The Painting Coach thank you and could i just paint the base rather then spray it?

Yes - you may need a couple of coats though
