You assembled over 100 models in four hours! At the 24 hour mark I'd have still been sat there meticulously scraping away mould lines 😂
@SlayerMiniatures3 жыл бұрын
Yeah 4.5 hours! I was on a mission. Because it was all unbuilt it was more efficient, say for the Chainrasps..I built 5 of the same model and scraped all 5 of the same lines so it was quick to find where they were. Most boring stage though ha!

There is no way anyone can do a good job of mold line removing and gap filling in 4.5 hours. Just get rid of the biggest ones once the entire model is assembled. 4.5 hours is 270 minutes. 2 minutes 42 seconds per model to cut it from a sprue, glue it up and place it in a base. Even for troops this is extremely fast - for me probably just cutting it accurately would take 2-3 minutes. And for bigger models? Impossible. It's just unrealistic. Either he rushed through it doing a fast and lousy job for a youtube video and then cherrypick the footage... Or it took him way, waaaay longer than that and he is lying to have a nice clickbait title. Midwinter minis when doing his necrons claimed they spent several weeks on assembly alone, doing 2-3 hours here and there. And you mean to say you can do it in 3 minutes per model? Get outta here! No "mission" or determination gives you those results. 😮

If you wanted to go faster on the bone, a technique Marco uses on his cursed city skeletons is just a thick burnt umber oil wash over a white (then clean most of it off). I’ve done it and it’s super super easy. With oil washes, it’s often better to batch paint applying all the washes to a single model at once (I even use different brushes to avoid contamination too much), and adding another color/area adds maybe 5 seconds per model or something. It’s great!
@SlayerMiniatures3 жыл бұрын
Cheers for that tip I'll give it a go! When you apply all the washes at the same time does it not mix?

Back in the late 80's and early 90's there was a sieres of books that showcased ghost storys with dark artwork. This army has that "feal" to it and is what I was looking for my own Nighthaunt army. Great video, can you advise on a ratio for mixing the oil wash. Cheers 👍
@SlayerMiniatures2 жыл бұрын
Hi gavin, there is no exact measuring. I literally just estimate like in the video. It's a rough mix. You honestly can't go wrong with it. If it's too weak just add a tad more oil, if it's too strong...more spirits. Whenever I mix a new batch I just test it on a test base or model. If you can see it spread out and look for recesses you have enough spirit. If it's too light add a touch more ink.
@rungunninja1289 Жыл бұрын
I actually did this once. Night haunts one of the armies wear the spray painting white on it and contrast made it actually very doable. That being said the quality on mine versus his is only comparable(his are still better) on the hero characters and the first few I was testing my work pattern on and actually paying attention to in detail. God did I get sloppy at the last 20.
