Cracking video! This is pretty much how I paint my Raptors. Though I much prefer your use of Balor and Zamesi for a muted yellow. Plus, also applying the decals after the basecoats makes SO much sense for weathering. Always find something to take away from your vids

Update: Citadel Corvus black is the paint you need for a very dark grey that isn’t black, if you don’t want to mix paint. :)

Looking to use the Raptors theme on my Votann do you think it’s worth spraying with a green primer to save time or use black?

Yes I would - it's a lot easier to paint any black details than it is to layer on greens

If you are drybrushing then you could go with a dark grey base - black at a push. You could also go for a dark green colour forge spray

Thanks! It removes surface tension so that the wash flows into the recesses more easily, and make it easier to clean any pooling

After putting on the "Athonian Camoshade", and before applying the Acrylic paint, may you need to apply a "matt varnish" for better paint adherence? or is it ok to paint on top of the Gloss Varnish?

It's fine to paint over the gloss varnish - the athonian camoshade will provide a matt surface on most of the model anyway. The only thing you would need to be careful of, is if you paint very diluted paint over the gloss, as this would have the same effect as the wash

Gloss varnish makes the surface smoother so wash flows better and decals apply better. Matt varnish dulls it back down so that the surface is no longer shiny. I use VMS

Not on video - but the techniques would be almost identical. I'd be a little more deliberate with the Camoshade wash and focus on recesses

It's fine but you will need an airbrush to spray it. You can use other gloss varnish like vallejo if you wish

No you would need to use tamiya thinner and drying retarder otherwise you will get streaks

Welcome to the hobby! If you are streaking griming it, then finish everything then gloss 👍🏻 the only time to gloss before hand is to do decals
