For eg palki Sharma frequently does reports about Pakistan on the verge of collapse but I know that's not true because I live in Pakistan. we are not a failed state like Afghanistan. But unfortunately when the whole world sees these reports they tend to believe that we are going to dismember soon. Indeed there may be rational voices in India I don't deny it but those voice are mostly overwhelmed by the indian populist right. For eg I really liked how Javed Akhtar despite being an atheist defended Pakistani poet faiz Ahmed faiz against the indian media onslaught but we were caught off guard when he took a 180 degree turn when he came to Pakistan and started bashing Pakistan and joined u're far right bandwagon to please u're establishment.

I had two Pakistani friends growing up in India as a kid in the early 80s - the family I think were close to the Bhuttos & were given some sort of asylum in India once Zia came in...... Have you heard of the term "soft bigotry of low expectations?" If not, Google it. it was coined by Senior Bush in his term. We, in India, know that this was practiced on Muslims during the so-called secular rule by Congress and others. The problem with secularism, is that minorities can be used as a vote bank. The low expectations from Muslims in India, crippled their community for decades. In short, secularism can be used a soft weapon that gives thousand small cuts to the nation, which realizes the bleeding much later. Before 2014 in India, secularism was used as a thrift for vote banks. Now it is used in a very sensible way, despite how it is portrayed by some section of the media.

Pakistan's miltary and Politicians are definately corrupt but India is definately our enemy as well. If we did not have nuclear bomb, India would have done the same to Pakistan as what id did to kashmir and Kashmiris. So we have to be vigilant of India as well. Zia-ul-Haq played a massive role in destroying Pakistan, but people very conveniently forget Bhutto's role in bringing Pakistan to where it is today. His nationalisation brought the economy to its knees, his fear of religious clergy played a vital role in dividing the populace further, his role in bureaucratic failure of today also goes unnoticed, his role in fall of Dhaka doesn't raise many eyebrows. In my reckoning, Bhutto was the wrecker in Chief of Pakistan, closely followed by Zia, who picked on Bhutto's policy of giving into relugious clerics and took it to another level of religious exploitation. Zia, after Bhutto was a lethal combo for Pakistan n Pakistan never really recovered from Nationalisation, politicisation of religion, division of people on sectarian, ethno religious & lingusitic divide.

One must not forget that while, during the 80's, Zia was modifying Pakistan into a medieval state , destroying its social & religious fabric , its democratic nurseries , creating monsters who would continue to haunt Pakistan for long time to come , our neighbours China & India decided to embark upon a market economy in a major shift from their socialist protective ideology . It paid dividends as both are economic powerhouses today . I think missing that decade , and the ones after that ( when we were busy talibanising Pakistan) was the most crucial stab in the back of Pakistan, which destroyed its economic future.

For your information, from dusk to dawn all the eateries in Pakistan in Ramadan are open. People can easily buy food & groceries for breakfast & lunch easily. All the vegetable & fruits vendors are open. Even bakeries are open. And even during the day time, most of restaurants & baleries start selling food for iftar from evening time. You have problem with them for remaining closed for just few hours out of respect for those who are fasting. wow Aesi konsi maut ajayegi apko agar kuch hours ghar mei cook kar k kha logey?
