Good to see you back at the lathe, my friend! I'm watching on my old computer set up on my wife's desk. I'll get back to the new one pretty soon. Have a great weekend, buddy! 😊 Phil

My next door neighbor is planning to take down a black walnut tree this summer. I've already placed my order with him! My late wife would get so frustrated with squirrels hiding walnuts in her garden and potted plants. I made her burial urn out of walnut and recently finished mine from the same board. I sure like working with walnut.

Well, I like this wood and the bowl you made. If I had been guessing, I would have guessed some sort of maple. Some of the color reminded me of box elder which is a species of maple. It would be cool to put some of that colored epoxy in the cracks.

I agree some trunings look very cool with epoxy. I just is just something I do not care to use. And trust me I have used more epoxy than you can imagine. Just not in my wood turnings. Thanks for watching, Gary

Nice piece! Great job on your explanations as usual. One comment I have just as a concern from one woodturner to another, have you ever thought about taking your ring off when you are turning? I don't wear any rings and I've often seen this and been concerned because I've heard of injuries of people wearing rings while turning. Thanks again for sharing!

Thank you very much Michael. I have taken it off a few times. Maybe more out to mention this to Carl Jacobson and a few other well known who have worn rings. The may bring this up. The only thing that should be past the tool rest is your gouge. But you have a good point. I need to work out an easy way to get it off. Takes oil or soap to get it over my knuckle. Thanks for watching and your concerns. Gary

I’m told fruit wood is prone to cracking so I wouldn’t be surprised if were apple wood.

Thanks Gary. I need to keep better track of the wood I get. I just do not know for sure where I got it. And for sure fruit wood loves to crack. Thanks for watching, Gary

Nice piece Gary. I see a lot of stacked logs in the neighborhood as people are doing spring cleanup. I guess it's time to replenish my blank supply. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Dave. Today we visited a friend who had an Oak tree taken down. She asked if I might want some. I took 3 pieces. Lost of drying time on these guys. Take care, Gary
