When I first started in 2016, it was all about "junk"! When we had swaps our journals were to be a certain percentage of found junk which was a lot of fun. Then people started using digi kits and that really took a lot of the fun out of junk journaling and caused some to looked down their noses at people who really did use found junk in their journals. I quit swapping b/c I could afford all of the bought stuff at the time. I think it would be nice to see more real "junk" journals on the horizon!!!! Thank you for sharing this video with us today!!!!!

I agree with you I don't live near a nice craft store and I'm on extremely tight budget financially it's discouraging when you see all the KZbin videos using all these kits and special tools kind of discouraging

@@victoriapalmer5146 I felt the same way when I first started. It was actually my 6 year old who changed my mind. Watching the way she decorates her "junk journals" with bits of old paper (wallpaper, comics, old story books etc....), was an eye opener. Now we watch all the videos for inspiration, then hunt in the house and "nanny's" house for things we can use and improvise 😅

As a makeup junky I´ve built up a fair amount of over the years, I started with crappy makeup which comes handy both with junk art and polymer clay, I´m glad that I´m a hoarder, always have things to reuse for something else ;D 💜 and the thing with makeup palettes, there´s always a shade or two that you´ll never use (or rarely) so why not use it for crafting since you already paid for it :D and now days you can get a budget palette for less that a coffee, sure, it may suck to use on your face, but dang they can be awesome in art! and a HUGE plus, there´s usually a crappy sponge applicator in cheap palettes and they are a handy tool to have when crafting :D and a multipack for cheap! This idea was really fun, and it shows that you honestly don´t need all the fancy supplies to create :)

These are great ideas, thank you! We frequently have little campfires in the fall and there's always the one or two pieces of wood that don't burn down. I break little chunks of the blacken part off charred wood, crinkle a piece of paper and then smudge that into the creases.

"Olden days," lol. Yes, it seems that anything before the '00s is "vintage." I use a lot of cereal boxes, junk mail, coffee, tea, kids' watercolor paints, old toothbrushes, and old clothing. I enjoy repurposing and remaking whenever possible. You show us some good ideas; I'd like to use more of my old makeup in projects, maybe I'll try it again with the glue trick. Thanks for sharing, take care!

I am an hour away from any of the craft stores. Senior on fixed income as well. Junk is my main ingredient. I do get some things from thrift stores but again a good portion of that would be considered junk as well. Lol. I make a huge amount of coffee and otherwise died paper. I buy lace shirts or skirts from those thrift stores and cut or tear them into ephemera size or strips to use in different ways I buy lots of partially used composition notebooks (for about 50 cents) to alter. Seasonal junk mail catalogs give me holiday fussy cuts and words. We have a store near us they gets a lot of brown packing paper and they don’t mind me collecting it. I do buy the occasional stickers or glue or necessary stuff. But mostly it’s stuff I already have or junk I find.

When I was a kid back in the late 70s we lived on a very fixed income and I had to get creative well back then there wasn't the great craft stores they have today I even had to make my glue out of flour and water and use a Q-tip to spread it but yes I would rummage around in my grandfather's work bench and my grandmother storage drawer looking for Creative supplies scraps of stuff to turn into some kind of craft project I think the hunt for supplies was just as much fun as creating About brightly colored nail polish in different colors using it like paint or using it to stamp... and I bet all those crazy colors of lipstick would work just like the shoe polish does

You can use a pease of a spongs for cleaning it is more stif, and easyer to work with. I use soft chalk. But good idears. I have also old eyemakeup, I use. Thank you so much fore sharing . Old eye make up can also be used as watercolour. You can also die your white kopypaper with tea or coffe. It will curl a little, during drying but you can ioern it on low temperature. Sorry for my spelling. 🌸🙏🏼🌸🤲🏼💗💕💕💕💕💕💕

I've used lots of eyeshadow from the thrift store to put stencils on pages. Never thought of using glue to make it more saturated. Great idea.

I like the journals made with these kind of things much better than those from a kit, etc. More creative, IMO----- Ty, Pam!! :)

I've used old eyeshadow on tags to darken the eddegs. I love your background noises. It took me a while to realize that these were made by your babies. Wish we could see them.

I love that you are doing this. I use shoe polish and felt pens to fix scratches in furniture and many other items. It does the trick and saves a lot of money. After watching this I am going to give it a go in my craft projects. You're ideas are awesome ❤

Ah, Pamaroo...I love it when you get down and dirty!!! I cannot let my husband see this video-or listen-he will be not so happy that I HAD to buy all those crafting supplies. 🤣 I just love my time spent with you and all my fellow subbies, drinking coffee, crafting and visiting, and having fun. Since my girls have grown and gone, my makeup has not disappeared, and I have lots of extra to play with. I now wish they were back and “borrowing.” Life goes on, and I am so happy to have you. 😊 I would love to see what you would do with fingernail polish! Hugs to you and all the feathered critters at your house. 💜💜💜

My sister’s birthday was April 1st. The quarantine started in March and I hadn’t bought her a gift yet. I made my first junk journal while quarantined at home with few stores even open to get supplies. I too used shoe polish. I don’t wear much makeup so didn’t think of that. I was able to get a few things from Amazon, but did most of it with what I had on hand. She absolutely loved it!
