Great paper making idea, i just have to try this. I might take some magazine pages and build on them. Or neutral pattern gift wrap. Oh Pam, I watched in horror while yo rotary cut that place mat! Just a hint, stand up and “ALWAYS” cut away from you. Apply even pressure and slowly cut. When I taught quilting classes the first lesson was always on the safe use of you tools! Sorry the instructor part of me just activated...😊

I have so much from our parents houses and some have memories for me. Now I know how to preserve them. Ty Pam for another timely idea. You r the mostest! Love you. Hugs to u and your zoo.

Are you ever amazed when we find your older videos? I just watched the one from Dec 7 and loved the idea of collage on the junk mail envelopes. But what really go my creative juices going was the "bird nests" . I have oodles of thread on wooden spools, no less, which I have been whittling down since I inherited them. Now I am going to make "bird nests" and save the spools to make ink stamps with nuts and washers...Thank you for getting me out of my hoarding mode.

I just love the placemat colorsceem . I think if it is not too thick, I would maby laminate it, and use the journal to notes for the garden planning. Then you can toutch it and lay it on the ground, and reading your notes while planting not worrying about it getting dirthy. Just a thought. But plain it would make a pretty journal for poems or diarry 🤲🏼🌸💕🌸💕🌸💕🌸💕🌸💕 Thank you so much for sharring 🌸🙏🏼🌸

Your junk journals pages always look awesome compared to my random put together pages! This project reminded me of when my daughter was in 4H and we used a placemat for a project. We took a placemat and sewed several ziplock bags inside it with grosgrain ribbon going down the center with a seam holding the bags inside. It would make a great ephemera holder! Thanks for chatting away while I do my journals! 😉

It’s so funny you chose this project to work on. I’m making journals out of Readers Digest books and I wanted to use some of the original pages. But I wanted the pages to be oriented where the print was left to right, but when I folded it I didn’t get enough of the page so I just glued 2 pieces of book page together side to side and it made the perfect size for my journals. I even went so far as to glue 3 pieces together and that way I had a page to fold into pockets.

Yes please always cut away from you! It is ok to use a rotary cutter for paper just have 2. One for fabric and one for paper. Use your new blade for fabric then when it starts to get dull use it for paper. 😊

In quilting a term for a similar technique is called “crumb quilting”. You sew very small scraps together on top of a larger piece of fabric like a cut up old sheet to make a larger piece of fabric. It can be tedious, but fun at the same time 😊
