Audi TT Front Wishbone / Control arm Polybush Upgrade Options

I’ve just finished replacing my bushes today. Getting the bushes out as a DIY was a battle. I went down the local steel suppliers and looked through their off cuts bin and found pipe that fitted the inner and outer diameters. I first tried using the press with the tubes. Then I went and bought a M12 22cm long bolt, as well as a super long nut with 5 times the threads((36mm). I tried using the rattle gun to compress the two tubes. I managed to remove one bush using this method and then I broke the 22cm bolt on the second bush. Next I took a different tact and used the steel pipe with a 10mm steel plate on top and drilled down using my air hammer… Freaking works so good!!!!!!!!! Air-hammers for the win 🏆 🇦🇺🤜🏼🤛🏼🍀🍀🍀😎

Thanks for the kind words, it’s nice to know that the videos are of interest and use to others. I make videos as I research info and a lot of times there is very little or poor quality information out there. The Parrott Bro’s ,yes you are right , I am also doing several research, may and many hours on internet finding informarion for the tt mk1 I am restoring. I also gave many information clasified in my dropbox accout just in case you need something maybe I can help you: timing belt detailed proccedure... I did not found a good DIY for removing turbo and clutch yet. Congratulations again for your channel.

Thank you, that’s similar to me. I also have many word documents containing how to’s, part numbers, tech info etc. You can never had enough information, plus auto data and 7zap for all your part numbers and schematics. The Parrott Bro’s , 7zap is new for me. I have been checking it. Looks interestind. Nirmally I use ETK Audi for references. Very powerfull, a lot of information for All audi cars. For repairing procedures and more issues I also use ELSAWIN from Audi. I also have bentley manual for tt mk1. Now I am finding information to repair wind deflector glass on my tt roadster. It is blocked, maybe the belt, I do not know. I am doing research about how open and repair.

The Parrott Bro’s , I am also trying to tune my car. TT mk1 roadster APX engine code. I updated intake TIP and ramair filter and forge DV valve. I like use vagcom to check faults and logging. I discovered recently me7logger, much lore better for logging. You can take 20/second. And you can check a lot of engine related values. My target is to read ecu with Nefmoto and try to tune it. I discovered a very interesting forum for that. But need time to read and make things properly. Mine is APX and narrowband. Not the best for ecu tunning but I will try to make stage one. I do not use instagram but I use facebook keep intouch and if I may help you with something let me know. Regards from the basque country! 💪

Cookbots rule!! Steering feeling is vastly improved and I went with oem bushes all around (no poly)

Gplus sucks big that’s what I’ve been hearing a lot. I need to order some cookbot rear adjustable arms soon. Oem will defiantly improve the feel of any car 15 years old and 75k miles on. I will see how the car does on the road and track with these strong flex and re assess in a years time.

Hi Dom I've a 2003 TT Quattro 180 6sp. Engine code ARY. Got a whining noise from gears. I bought a shim with the cover. On doing the job it's seems there's no access to fix it. It looks sealed. All the online videos I've seen has easy access. Take cover & retaining clip out. Put shim on then clip & cap. Easy!! Any thoughts or ideas please I've taken a photo too

Another video, when I drilled my rubbers and I broke about 6 drills, it kept getting caught and snapping, so make sure you have enough spare drills to hand.

I've got some questions for you. Is your TT lowered? With springs or coils? How much is it lowered? Did you replace the read tie rods for adjustable ones and do you maybe know at which point if lowering adjustable tie rods are neccesary?

Yeah it’s lowered 40mm on apex springs and shortened shocks, I have ordered cookbot adjustable control arms as the wheels are seriously cambered. Needs to be brought back square as will make the tyres bald very quickly.

Allright! Thanks for the info. Do you know if a 25mm or 30mm drop also require adjustable tie rods?

I would say it’s less of an issue however it’s probably still a good idea. The rear tie arms are known to fail so worth changing the bushes and getting adjustable ones. Just don’t get the cheap ones off eBay. Search cookbot if you want to buy some

Hi I bought new genuine bolts and see that bolts same diameter but rear Bush 13mm hole so bolt wobbly. Did you see this in your arms. I was checking to see if. it's normal. Thanks ian

What would happen if you didnt replace the Bush when it time to be replaced? What would happen to the car I mean or wheels

You would likely get a knock under braking or accelerating,added play in the feel on the steering wheel. they are quite easy to see with a torch if you turn your wheel and lay down and look at them

You certainly notice it, it’s very firm and you can feel every bump in the road. I’m still on shocks and springs not Coilovers too! But tuning in and steering feedback is brilliant

If your car is made after 1999 then it will likely be 45mm
