A build that seemed to work really well in chaos wastes for foot knight for me(both legend and cata, but more cata-oriented, primarily we play the citadel of eternity) Extremely similar to yours-spear/shield, handgun for weaponry. The difference is in the talents. Back off ugly for temp hp, staggering force for enhanced crowd control, bulwark, rock of reikland, its hero time for saving teammates from almost literally anything, battering ram for making the damn sure that you can control most of the battlefield. Yes, you are sacrificing a lot of your personal damage output, the output however in our party outweighs the negatives as the regular rats can still die, you are far from defenceless against anything short of a boss(and even then resing your teammates is more than manageable), you have an absurd amount of mobility almost comparable to that of a handmaiden, and the crowd control and overall control you provide give you extremely effective, even if the damage is somewhat low. The best moment that this build had was staying with an outcast engineer on the citadel of eternity(he rolled lightning on crits, double shot and more absurd ranged stuff, but nothing for survivability and a random one-handed axe), with my objective being keeping him alive at any cost while pushing for our downed teammates. He didn’t even have to take out his melee weapon because of the amount of crowd control and horde clearing this build provided) The best part-bullying bosses off a cliff) It becomes somewhat easier with this build. This is not a build for damage output, and that may put off some players. It is more for a supportive role and making sure your damage dealers can do their job more comfortably, while accounting for things like increased numbers of hordes, specials and bosses, that can eventually tire even the best team down.

I'm a bit of a GrailKnight/FootKnight main and i would like to make a bit of a case for the Battering Ram talent, i find it far better then Numb to Pain for a couple reasons: The first being that it has a similar effect, doubling the charge size makes it knock everything over keeping you safe during revives the exact same way, in my experience. The next reason is because it also, as was mentioned in the video, allows you to charge through Chaos Warriors and Storm Vermin which tend to block you from getting to the person you want to revive, this also has the effect of allowing your team to shred through multiple chaos warriors at once by knocking all of them over, which is great for handling Chaos Patrols.

Footknight will always be my favourite. I usually run with hammer or executioner as well as Hero Time to embody the battering ram playstyle. Still don’t have spear&shield on console though...

One thing I would love to see, unless I missed it, is what is your thought process in picking that career over the others in this video series, other than I just feel like charging into things head first today of course. I am the only person out of my group of friends who plays with all the careers maxed out, so I spend alot of time trying to figure out how to best balance them out. When it comes to Kruber for example, it seems like merc, footknight, and even the grailknight all fill simular chunky frontline space maker roles. So my only considerations so far is footknight if someone plays the elf (they tend to take all the damage), merc if someone plays salts(for attack speed), and grailknight if I think they ll struggle with elites.

Look at royale with cheese cata write ups for each character for builds. Then just jump in and play. It is much harder than legend...3x imo...but the only way to do it is to just get in there and learn it. Hordes are longer. More specials. And so on. I wipe more times on legend than cata because of the type of players in pub games. The benefit is rarely tomes and grims which means no curse resist. Public players are a much higher caliber than legend players. Just get in there and try it and practice and soon you'll never want to play legend again. Partially due to the adrenaline you get knowing you could wipe at any time in a pub game because of how insane it gets when shit hits the fan.

It's Block Cost really the best way to go regardless of the weapon choice on both weapon and Necklace due to the fact that Block Cost is exponential, just 30% Block Cost is around 41% more effective block Stamina, 60% is 150% more effective block Stamina and for Handmaiden you can reach 90% (100%+ is infinite blocking so Handmaiden + Foot Knight BC share) on her own which is 900% more effective block Stamina, having more block cost is a lot more important than base stamina at higher difficulties. I feel like considering as well this is Foot Knight, you already get +2 Base Stamina and you are also on a shielded Weapon which aslso has high base Stamina, adding another 2 is rather pointless. Another thing I do with Foot Knight is use Opportunist with attack speed and Croud Clearer which means can reach the same exact attack speed as swift slaying but have an extra 15% Stagger strength over just Staggering Force which allows you to push monks and Berserkers about, well if you have Enhanced Power and Comrades in Armes at least., this means you can high a decent attack speed at pretty much all times with enough stagger for everything besides CW and Bosses

Not a pro of this kind of gameplay (I'm more of a Huntsman guy) but I think stamina over BCR has to do with being aggressive : with stamina you have less defensive power but you can push a lot more, it's more about controling the horde than tanking it. That's how I view it anyway

​@@packmanbp Yeah I get that, but it only allows you to do 1 or 2 more pushes, but in oh shit situations, you are at a hugh disadvantage. Just have to manage stamina more and not be too agressive

You are absolutely correct that block cost reduction generally speaking is way more important if you only measure it by the effective blocking and generally speaking I would be running block cost in this particular case as well! However, it should be said, that no amount of block cost reduction is ever going to save you when you get completely surrounded and end up entirely stuck in a horde of minions which is why for certain weapons I would personally favor having that extra push nonetheless! Glad to see FK get some love, i have got back into him since chaos wastes. I have noticed people favouring the sword and shield over mace and shield. What is the reasoning behind this?

I think it's because M&S used to be waaaay worse than S&S. But since the rework I find Mace & Shield more enjoyable to play and a little bit better against armored but worse for killing hordes (but vs horde you can just shield bash / push / shield bash / push combo). I just can't see a reason for people to play one over the other I think now they are both pretty balanced and equally viable, just preference maybe ? I'll be happy to revise my opinion on that matter if anyone has more clues, i'm just a noob after all

It's due to a combination of certain attack combinations such as the push/block --> Heavy attack combos which slightly drags you forward so to speak. Another way to put it is that it increases your movement speed slightly. Now because I had the attack speed buff from using my ultimate ability that means I can perform that same extra drag but in a smaller amount of time and thus more times in the same amount of time if that makes sense! xD That all adds up to a lot of mobility!

I'd have to disagree with your choices for legend and possibly even cata - the elite and horde density and stagger resist isn't high enough to justify going for hard-stagger-lock builds. On Cata Twitch or modded content I can see where you're going. On live realm I find Crowd Clearer, Bull of Ostland, It's Hero Time, and Mace and Sword the best picks. FK has a passive to already have +2 stam (1 shield), so he really doesnt need +stam on his gear for shields or even Mace and Sword. The attack speed with mace and sword allows equally fast ult charge but better DPS, while It's Hero Time allows for negating bad moments instantly. I find it particularly tactical when a hook rat or assassin is coming to just ult for space and possibly hitting it, so that if someone gets caught I immediately get my ult back.
