Just a note. Malay is the language of the Malay Archipelago. Which is how Malaysia derived its name too. Malay is not derived from the country above us, our closest neighbour.

33:40 Geylang, pronounced as Gay-Lung, is a bastardisation of the word "Kilang' which in Malay means Factory. Lor is a shortform of Lorong, pronounced it as Low-Wrong, just like Rd is for Road and is Malay for small thoroughfare or alleyway. So the place called Geylang Serai (pronounced as Sir-raii) is basically Lemongrass Factory, in which Serai is the Malay word for Lemongrass, and a place where lemongrass are grown and cultivated once upon a time ago. Now You Know! 39:30 Teh Halia means Ginger Tea. Tea infused with Ginger, hence that cooling effect at the back of your throat.

Singapore is the only developed country in Southeast Asia, which is why you do not see those things normally seen in the S.E.A. region. Hawker centres away from the central area will usually be way cheaper. Changi Airport is pronounced "Chang-ee".

They don't provide vending machines inside the Cloud Forest because they are worried about tourists maybe dropping some juices or whatever on the floor, they want to keep it clean. 😊

It was a great watch. So glad you had a nice time in Singapore. Most of the places you have visited are on my list. The food looks so food. Have you had any issues paying with a card or cash anywhere?
@ThePassportCouple5 ай бұрын
So glad you enjoyed the video, and yes, we had a wonderful time in Singapore. Such an amazing country and one we would definitely visit again. And you are spot on, the food is sooooooo good. When we go back, we will definitely do some hawker stall hopping. As for cash or card, almost everything can be paid with a card, but we did carry a small amount of cash for some of the smaller Hawker Centres. If you have any other questions leading up to your trip, please let us know 😃

Hokkien mee/noodle has zero peanut sauce. It's seafood heavy with squid, prawns, prawn broth, eggs and crispy pork lard.

Hey guys i noticed you are wearing masks inside the cloud forest. Is it mandatory for everyone to wear. Do you need to wear masks in other places too? Really enjoy your vlog. Me and my wife will go there too on the 24th of August. Super excited.
@ThePassportCouple5 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for the nice comment 🙌 And your question is a good one. We filmed these videos back in 2022, and rereleased this longer video as an extended cut 🎥 That said, I don't think there are any mask mandates remaining in Singapore. Thanks again for reaching and we hope you and your wife have a wonderful trip later this month. Singapore is amazing 🇸🇬💛

Oh no, you walked past Pasar Geylang Serai but didn't go in. Such a waste. It's another huge hawker centre famous among Malays, serving halal cuisines, mostly malay cuisines (i realised you have been eating mostly Chinese cuisines in Singapore). You should have tried others since you're in multicultural and diversified, yet small country. 😅
