Such great memories, I was there for the first time in October! A friend from there took me to Uncle Loius' as well and it was delicious! From there we also walked over to Marina Bay through many alleys and building lobbies. The orchids there are amazing, we also went to see many more in the Botanic Gardens. It's too bad you didn't go up to the bar on top of MBS, the snacks are good, the drinks are great and the view is amazing... even if you've never watched Crazy Rich Asians :) Thanks for all the great vids from SE Asia, I'm still here enjoying it all and I appreciate all the great work you did shooting and editing your posts!

"Futuristic twist on nature"... seems like an apt description! Yeah that Marina Bay Sands is such a head turner isn't it. Sure appears to be a ship, or a train running across the top. Food looks yummy. (though a little taken aback by the sight of the duck head LOL). I hear Singapore's airport is absolutely mind blowing, ranked #1 in the world. Also people say you can literally eat off the street it's so clean. Haha yes I'd be looking for otters too! Loved the video...what else is new....and the closing goosery (what the heck was in those dumplings? LOL)

Welcome to Singapore. That's char siew (roasted pork, not duck @6:18 Tian Tian chicken rice with that long queue is only popular amongst the tourists. Those queuing are all tourists. Is Malay/Muslim food, we don't call it Malaysian food per se. You can get local coffee or tea at the hawker centres for less than $2 and a breakfast set for around $5.

Singapore seems very expensive but actually your tourist budget is safe. You may have an expensive hotel room (but I guess around same prices as London or Paris...) but others things can be cheap: - use the public transportation : you can go mostly everywhere for a correct price (around S$1.50 a trip), it's clean and efficient! - Temples - hawkers center or food courts (inside a mall with A/C) : good food for a reasonable price (some dishes are under $5). No need to go to fancy restaurants everyday! - Enjoy the greenery! Lots of parks (gardens by the bay, Mount Faber...) - Be amazed by the city skyline - Enjoy light shows - Some shows or exhibitions are free! There is always something going on! - Not the cheapest but an evening at Clarke quay may be a good option. Very good atmosphere, lots of bars and restaurants among the river. You also have a small city cruise departing from there. Tip : if you're in need of a pool, for once eat in a hotel restaurant (book in advance). And may have a nice view of the city. Have a lovely stay in Singapore!❤

Was the hawker food $5 to $7, MRT train $1.50 to $2, taxi fare $1.20 for about 1 minute journey for normal taxi (not grab) expensive compared to say New York, Paris , Zurich , etc ?

The taxi $1.20 is wrong, the meter start at $3.30 or $3.60 , couldn’t remember since it’s some times i took a cab myself.

Come back soon! Bring more money! But seriously, there are lots of free things to do in Singapore. Did you miss the Jewel at the Airport? That's mostly free (except for some ticketed attractions at the top floor). There's another light show a Marina Bay Sands in the evening, also free (next to the Apple Store). Hope the sample of Singapore you got will lure you back in the future. Bring more cash to buy souvenirs! Our merchants need to make a living too! Glad you had a good time and that this was worth it. Do come back soon. With or without a big budget. The duck noodle seller misses you!

Jill doing everything to avoid food containing green beans. It all looked lovely. Question (this might blow your mind Jill it's about public transport lol) If you wanted to treat Hannah to a bus ride do you scan your credit card twice or will the bus think you got on and decided to get off again ??? Safe travels looking forward to your next adventure
@Amaranthine.96Ай бұрын
You actually wont be able to do that with your credit card upon entry into the bus if you try to tape it twice. It will just say "Entry Ok" until you tap out, then it will register as a new bus ride. The rides are also calculated based on distance, so if you forgot to tap out, your card will be charged the maximum amount possible from when you enter till the last stop of the bus route.

Cost of living is a tricky one because it can be easily manipulated for an infinite number of variables so it's impossible to define and generally offers a poor representation of the actual cost of living in the country e.g. what your basket of goods is, whether you're an expat/tourist/resident, whether you are looking to own a car, and the list goes on.... The high cost of living trope that gets pushed around ever so frequently, especially in western media, generally considers cost of rent, owning a car, and having meals at lavish restaurants for expats (at least for foreign publications). So budget travelling is actually possible in Singapore and one can still enjoy the food, culture, and local scene without breaking the bank (might even be more affordable), especially if you're a tourist travelling from a developed economy with a competitive salary.

I never considered Singapore to be super expensive. I just assumed it would be similar to the rest of southeast asia. Thanks to this video I'm going to have to rethink when and how long I'll be staying. 😅
@simplyme3306Ай бұрын
Singapore is the only developed country in the region. You cannot compare a developed country with other developing ones around it. Try comparing with other developed Asian countries or cities.
@regrr1774Ай бұрын
@@simplyme3306 I don't know what you're trying to mean. I'm just saying I didn't expect Singapore to be that expensive that even Westerners say so. I was assuming expenses will be similar to central Manila but looks like I have to bump up expectations to be more in the higher end of Manila.
@simplyme3306Ай бұрын
@regrr1774 Manila and other South East Asian countries are all developing countries. Many visitors tend to forget this as they compare Singapore with them. Singapore is a developed city state comparable to New York for example. Or to Japan, Australia. You would have to compare developed country to another developed country.
@simplyme3306Ай бұрын
@regrr1774 Philippines is far off from Singapore. Further down than Malaysia. We have affordable hawker food and fully connected and affordable public transport system. Only thing that is considered expensive for visitors is accommodation.

Her daughter is mixed blood beautifully. Their son is 2 yrs old he is growing up well. I thanked the couple for contribution to total defence, because 20 yrs later the boy will serve national service. Singaporean welcome western ladies &, we offer a country of many nation.
