my lifepartner passed away to this cancer at 43. never had cancer in his family,never drinker, smoker he was always fit and healthy.never really sick aither. he fought for almost 4yrs. no chemo, he stopped chemo 6months into treatment it was making him worse and surgery was not an option because of the location of the cancer. he also had stage four it was spread little into his liver. he decided to quit chemo to be able to live even some sort of life and actually enjoy it, treatments didnt really guarantee him longer life,so he said he rather live short life where he is happy and feels okay than a short life just being sick and fighting for his life. miss him dearly.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm 42 and was diagnosed with it 4 months ago. Like your partner, I'm not eligible for surgery. Mine is "locally advanced". The thought of leaving my husband and son destroys my heart. I did do 9 chemo infusions, but they stopped it bc my tumor isn't shrinking at all. Trying radiation next.

Don't let negative people bring you down Chris. There is POWER in positive thinking. I am 72, had three kinds of cancer, bilateral breast, and tongue and neck. I had 6 joint replacements, a hyperparathyroid tumor removal and a double brain aneurysm with stenting and a subsequent blood clot in my femoral vein. I am still alive. It's first because of my loving and merciful God and secondly from keeping a positive attitude. People out there who have had multiple health trials, trust In the Lord and stay positive. @@theresabrown1272 Thank you for pointing this out. I had a Whipple’s procedure in 2018. It is a massive operation and I was in hospital for 2 months after the surgery. (Fortunately, being in Australia, the procedure and the two month stay in hospital didn’t cost me a dime). I’ve been seeing my oncologist every three months until this year. Now I’ve ‘graduated’ to yearly checkups. It’s very disheartening when there’s an assumption that no one survives pancreatic cancer. I am often asked why I am still alive when I say I’ve had pancreatic cancer! One final point, if you decide to have a Whipple’s procedure, I suggest you check that your surgeon is doing at least 15 procedures a year.

You are absolutely amazing. My grandmother died from pancreatic cancer. When she was diagnosed in ~1986 they gave her 6 to 8 months to live. She lived 3 years. Never had chemo or anything. She was 77 at the time and they only gave her 6 months so chemo wasn't an option at that time. Times have changed. I work in oncology research now and you are amazing. My coworker, a healthy 60-something year old wonderful guy, lived two years after pancreatic cancer diagnosis. He was always very health conscious and didn’t some or drink. Heartbreaking. He loved his grandkids, who I am sure they miss him terribly.

Praying for you! You CAN recover and live a full life. My mom passed last yr but hers was small cell which is harder to treat plus she had already lost a lung in 2011 from non small cell. BUT, she unfortunately started smoking again. I love and miss her dearly but I believe if she had stayed totally off the cigarettes she would still be alive . It's hard to say for sure though because only God knows. Plus, mom was 82 when she was diagnosed with the small cell and it had spread. I am also in Maine and if we had to do it over again, I'd choose to go out of state .

Wow,what an amazing story and recovery.I lost my beloved husband almost 5 years ago to this terrible disease.He had no symptoms until the middle of September and because of severe pain in his rib cage,went to the doctor and the CT scan showed a large tumor on his pancreas,9 lesions on his liver and another one on his rib cage.We very quickly got into an oncologist,who said there was nothing they could do but send him home on Hospice.That’s what he did and he was gone on October 20.I’m so glad you had good results and can still enjoy your life.

Bless your heart! Thank you so much for sharing your story. No body looses this much weight unless something like a cancer is going on! I truly wonder about some physicians and wonder if they even have common sense! To make a long story short, in my ongoing case, since August 2023, out of the blue I started getting skin lesions with serious skin infections and it’s ongoing as I’m typing this! I’ve lost 20 pounds, on and off joint pain and recently nausea and my fatigue is insane. They say my pancreas is fine and all my leukemia tests (labs, flow CYTOMETRY, Lipase) are all normal. No one knows what is wrong with me!

Wise words. The doctors in Boston proved not to be better than your experience in New Hampshire and yet, you persevered with hope. Not every patient has surgery. Not every patient has the same chemo treatments. Do your own research. My relative had cancer and due to his age, chemo was likely not the best choice for him. It made me seek out a different doctor last year and communication is easier now. I'm giving your book suggestion, "The Power of Now", to a friend who is in a similar situation.

She is a very lucky lady. My mum had various symptoms over several months, backache, heartburn and constipation. She went back and forth to the GP for 8 months. Tests at the hospital did not pick up the cancer, but it was found she had a narrowing of the colon, so required a small operation. It was only when my mum was operated on that things turned bad. My mum's bowel split open, flooding her body with poisons. They found mum has a tumour on her pancreas and it has spread through her bowel and into her liver.. Mum's was put on a machine to keep her alive, which it did, but she never recovered and died 4 months later. She only managed to get home for a couple of weeks but was so ill. she begged to stay at home, but she had to go back into hospital. It was awful. A terrible, terrible time that affected me greatly.,

06:11 honestly I am so happy for you, you are like the 0.001% that live, but having lost lots of friends and family of cancer(age 30's and 40's), these doctors who say to get your affairs in order when you are stage IV are doing you a favor. People act like it is a choice to die of cancer and just don't choose to die and you don't need to face it and make the transition better for your kids and family. No, I say prepare and set things up as if you are dying, make birthday cards for your kids until they are 30, make out their high school graduation cards, go over sensitive topics with your spouse like them moving on and dating again, etc. Just because you prepare doesn't mean the act of preparation will kill you in that of itself. These doctors see 1,000s of cases of stage IV and they know, they see it, we tend to discount and mock the doctors for being "negative" but when 98% of your stage IV patients do die, then you can't dispute the numbers. Once again Mrs. Parrish I am so happy for you, but the vast majority of people will not have the wonderful outcome you have been blessed with.

I got up wanted out went to a new Doctor he told me my blood work looks great. I Started boiling in side I was fighting for my life. My sister was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in Oct., 2021, a couple of rounds of chemo nearly killed her. She had to go to a rehabilitation center just to be able to be well enough to go home to hospice care and die one year later. Incredible survivor story. Hope this regimen will give others some hope.

This is amazing!! My father was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in 2006. They gave him 6 months but he passed within a couple of weeks. In retrospect I suspect it was caused by undiagnosed/untreated celiac disease.

I lost my dad to this awful disease this year. Bless him he was fit and healthy and strong his whole life. Just 16 days from diagnosis to his passing and I was with him when he died. Awful awful time RIP dad xxx

Bloody hell! - you’re amazing! - I’ve saved your vid for your example and straightforwardness, practicality and acceptance - you’re a seriously amazing example - I can’t imagine how dreadful you felt - as gruesome and perhaps insensitive as it may sound, I’d really like to understand more about the creeping signs, and the actually experience of each stage and treatment that you re wives. I have had friends die of a “sudden” diagnosis of lung cancer and did all of this sort of thing - so I really want to hear more about how you “spoke” to your condition/ diagnosis - ie, did it “not exist” aggressively as an attitude, or what … not the philosophies, or concepts, but the moments of change, attitude, nittty-gritty. Thank you so much for sharing- you’re the first person I’ve heard over many years that speaks straight about your experience. So appreciated! Congratulations on your incredible resilience!! 16 years!! - absolutely a testament to your incredible attitude, residence and character. Very few people “cut through” the BS or hope against hope people who don’t actually believe - you offer solid example of belief rather than hope. Thank you xxx

The truth is doctors and Cancer Care are very uneven in quality. And most people can't afford to travel to the place where they can get the best care. God bless this woman in for her strength and for sharing her story how extraordinary. I pray our medical system will change where people are put above profit.

there are so many resources out there to help patients travel to receive care. patients should ask their case workers and do lots of google research to find those resources :)

Amazing story! I remember my Uncle Pete got pancreatic cancer, I wish he had gotten the treatment you got. He was such an active guy and it took him so fast. I remember him saying I don't want to die..... Yet they offered him no treatment

So happy for you! I lost my mom to stage 4 pancreatic cancer after she had been complaining to her PCP for almost a year. They did colonoscopy and endoscopy which were clear but no other diagnostic tests until she had horrific pain and we took her to ER. I lost my dad to colon cancer and my in laws to esophageal cancer and brain tumor. My husband and I follow Mediterranean diet since I am Italian I have always cooked that way. God Bless!

I’m glad for you. My cousin and another close family member through marriage both had the same attitude and drive and both passed very quickly. So much of it is luck. I wish that this random factor was mentioned. You were very unusually lucky and that’s a great and very rare thing. Sometimes I get the sense that survivors assume it’s due to their commitment and drive and that commitment in drive is also in those who died. All the best to you…

Your survival story gives me hope. My Mother and her sister both dies from pancreatic cancer. 18 months ago I was diagnosed with and aggressive form of breast cancer. It turned out to be the BRCA mutation so I am at a high risk for pancreatic cancer. Your attitude is refreshing! I too believe that we need to be our own best advocate and having a good attitude helps! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Thank you for sharing your story. Glad you got a 2nd opinion and advocated for yourself. More people need to learn to be MORE assertive and advocate for their own health. Demand tests (even if your MD doesn't think you need "that" test). Doctors don't always KNOW it all. Doctors DO miss cancer symptoms. For women, some doctors attribute cancer symptoms to anxiety or stress. Do YOUR due diligence. Challenge your MD. Ask lots of questions. Always get a 2nd and 3rd opinion. Patients do NOT need to stay with the 1st MD they see. Patients MUST BE their own healthcare advocate. You are YOUR own BEST friend.
