Well as a U.S Marine I’m not surprised. Our camp/baes teams (which also consist of each individual breach) plays the Japanese local teams yearly in Japan/Okinawa. So it helps them a lot when their league champions play the champions of our league as well. On top of that we have scrimmages before our seasons start, it’s a great cultural exchange filled with mutual respect and appreciation for the love of the game.

What people don't realize is that Japan's mindset is perfectly fit for team sports. Every player on Team Japan knew exactly what was expected of them, large or small. And they gave 100% for each act. You can tell the American team wasn't on the same wavelength and everything was based on an individual perspective. Even at the end there was a player who just walked off in anger and didn't bother to congratulate the winning team.

These kids here spend hours upon hours practicing and training everyday. It’s why Japan has become such a powerhouse in baseball. Kids practice up to 8 hours a day. Japan has maybe a couple hundred guys if that who dedicate significant amounts of time to playing the sport. It doesn't really matter that these aren't the best players in the US when you put it in perspective. Baseball is even more of an American original sport and some of the best players in the MLB are Japanese. Shohei Ohtani, arguably the best baseball player of all time hails from Japan.
