I'm glad DB mentioned the inexperienced Colts WR group last year. I kept harping on it all season, but no one wanted to hear it. Wentz had so many plays where there was just no one to throw to and was too often left in a position of taking risks and trying to make a play. Half the time he managed to do something awesome. The other half of the time the play ended in disaster. When you think about it, 50/50 results on high risk, low chance plays isn't too shabby. I hope he does well with Washington (just not when they come to Indy).

We were watching different games then. His biggest knock is the offense kept stalling because he WOULD NOT throw the 5 yard flats to his running backs to open it up. Then any time he needed to make a play he was an utter failure. Not often was the game placed on his shoulders. But when it was you can pretty much guarantee he will hold the ball to long or throw left handed. Was he the only problem? No. Was he the biggest? Yes.

@@ElGeetaro8929 I agree. In the Ravens game Jonathan Taylor had 116yds receiving off of 3 catches in the backfield. In the 2nd Titans game in overtime Taylor was wide open with nobody within 15yds of him but Wentz threw to Pittman in triple coverage and got intercepted. Alie-Cox was wide open on that play too. Not to mention veterans LeGarrette Blount, Alshon Jeffrey, and Torey Smith. So, not exactly bare bones. He didn't have premium receivers in Indy. But he did have, arguably, the best RB in the league and one of the better lines. Carson's main enemy is himself. He is good, better than what is being said about him, but he will often force things to happen when he should be patient and take what the defense gives him. Philip Rivers had this same issue towards the back end of his career, playing aggressively trying to make a highlight reel moment to shut up his critics only to get picked off instead which makes the critics louder. Wentz just needs to play calm and passive. He needs to channel his inner Dak Prescott and play conservatively and wait for the defense to make a mistake and capitalize on it. Do not force anything.

Off-the-field issues: He wouldn't let Irsay make his medical decisions, period. The locker room stuff is just Irsay trying to hide his pettiness with the same B.S. Roseman fed the Eagles fans to accept moving on from an MVP-caliber QB so he could speed up his rebuild with a rookie contract QB and some extra draft picks. Howie at least had the team's best interest in mind, even if he was making a scapegoat of a guy that didn't deserve it, but Irsay was just pure pettiness. Carson had the 8th best QBR with basically nothing around him. With the lack of talent at WR and Horrible pass protection, if Carson had just " got rid of the ball" as much as people are saying he should have he'd probably have 12 more picks and half the TDs. Having the best rushing game in the league only helps you as a QB if you have enough quality receivers to make defenses pay for the extra guys in the box. Since Pittman was his only guy it wasn't anywhere near enough to offset how bad the lack of talent everywhere else was. If you had just about any other QB in that same situation you would have ended up half the production or twice the turnovers depending on who it was.

2021 Colts QB options listed below in order of my excitement: 1. Keep Rivers one more year and draft Mac Jones 2. Matthew Stafford 3. Play a season without a starting QB and run wildcats all season long with Hines 4. Forfeit the season 5. Carson Wentz I stand by this after the season
