Fun Fact - ND has the 6th most wins in cfb over the past decade. They also shut down Caleb Williams and Marvin Harrison Jr last year, with an even better defense this year. They may not be as good as UGA / BAMA / OSU, but they’re legit right behind them

Majority of the ND World isn’t proclaiming that the Irish are back to National Championship form. Why we are excited is because we are FINALLY witnessing a real shift in the level of skill players that Freeman and Co. are getting (long, fast, and athletic). that's why PSU joined the Big10 back in the 90's. They seen the writing on the wall, if you wanted a chance at getting a Natty. You needed to be in a strong conference. Should have been a split championship in '94. ND was given every chance multiple times to join BiG10, they've refused time and time again...so they get what they get. Now at least there's an actual ' playoff ' so they'll have a chance to get there.

WOW, REALLY? Because they just did what they ALWAYS do to cost themselves a National Championship. They lost to a team that can't hold their JOCKSTRAPS. I didn't know NIU had a football team. Holtz did it three times after winning in '88. 2x vs Stanford 1x vs BC. Next time the Irish win a BIG game EVERYONE needs to take their next opponent WITH the points. As much as I HATE the UM CONVICTS they would NEVER lose to a team that they were favored to destroy

Coming from an ND fan…..100 yards in penalties against A&M, same amount of 5 star recruits as Kelly. Not sure if they are really that much better. Pretty sure Georgia, OSU, Alabama, etc., will smoke us again in a playoff. Just being real.

Coming from a lifelong Notre Dame football fan, and hearing how much Kirk Herbstreit hates Notre Dame and has always refused to acknowledge their existence, I just want to say kudos to Pat McAfee for putting Herbstreit in an awkward position to finally admit Notre Dame exists, is good, and is headed for great things. I hope Herbstreit still has a bad taste in his mouth from this.

ND does pay their players NIL money. But, the fact is, Marcus Freeman has his coaching staff. Mike Denbrock was an excellent hire and so was Loren Landow as the strength and conditioning coach. Plus Marcus Freeman recruits differently than any other program which is why he is getting the talent. "Hey, you can go anywhere and play football. You might get into the NFL. Then you might get injured and end your career. A degree from Notre Dame will get you further in life after football than any other big time college football program you go play for." That really resonates with the parents of these kids and the kids that he is recruiting as well.

@@dvbagnasco ND does not pay their players NIL. Every time their AD speaks he is vehemently against it. Obviously they do what they can to help their players get paid through other means (and they are good enough at it that ND athletes make very good money relative to other D1 schools). They have come out strongly against the school directly paying the players which puts them well behind the top tier SEC and B10 schools. Brady Quinn started a booster club last year to try to keep them somewhat competitive with other schools from a money standpoint
