Dude got sold a bag of goods in a sense. Takes the gig with Luck, thinking he had an elite QB for the future. Luck retires right before his second season and he legit had s different starter each year. At the same time he had an office who kept going after a workable QB to win with. But after the collapse last year you knew he was gonna be on thin ice. But wild to think he had a different QB every year and realistically was close to taking the team to the playoffs 3 of his 4 full years. But aside from the QB the team just didn’t appear to be coached well. But I think he got fired now over the end of the year because Irsay figured he’d keep the team mediocre and I think Irsay wants them to rank and have a chance at a franchise QB rather than going in yet another chase for a free agent QB.

@@panditas7679 While the Superbowl loss was extra frustrating being surrounded by Colts fans, that wasn't the cause. I don't really know, to be honest. Possibly, it is partially from my dad who dislikes them because of the way they moved from Baltimore, but I wasn't even alive then. It's not like they are the Packers, though. I have basically a hierarchy that includes every team in the league (it's fairly fluid in the middle but the top and bottom are pretty stable,) that's what makes watching football fun for me.

Pretty dam cool that Jeff Saturday is named as interm coach! .....Ironic for me that Jim Irsay was working in a Recording Studio yesterday called (The Sound Emporium) that I do work for here in Nashville. The young 2nd sound Eng's. & interns said he was tipping them well when they were doing things for them so he's a true good guy spreading that $$$ and love! Reminds me of an owner that I grew up with in London Ohio, "John Sawyer" who along with "Paul Brown" started the Bengals franchise in 67 when I was 7 yrs old. I can remember going to Nippert Stadium in the 1968 & 69 seasons before riverfront. Mr Sawyer took us kids down to the field to see "BenZoo" the Tiger they had in a cage on wheel's that a sled dog team would pull around the track just outside of the field when ever the Bengals scored! lol...try a stunt like that these days i'd like to see. : )

His best days are way behind him and he has never been the same since the Falcons second half collapse in the SB. He did not add anything to the offense when he was playing and he was worst than Wentz was at times last year.

If Ryan gets hurt, he's owe another $7 million or something like that. His contract is guaranteed for next year so that part doesn't matter. However, if he gets hurt, that's additional money the Colts have to pay him. That's the reason why he's not playing. Plus, they've got to see what they have in Sam Ehlinger, probably not much, but they've still got to see. If he sucks, it's a high draft pick, if he plays well, he's a surviceable back up and if he plays lights out, then he's the starting QB as Matt Ryan isn't the long term answer.

As a colts fan I think the move had to be done. At the same time colts are in a weird place with a qb hangover and just can’t get it fixed. Frank showed a lot of promise the first few seasons. And colts had high expectations. Crazy how it all crumbled.

It really just needs blown up with a multi-year rebuild plan. They just don't have anything left at this point, the team doesn't have any foundational position group to build from. I don't know if Saturday was brought in to really give a shot(or at least see how he looks by the end of the year), or whether he's just a stand-in for this season, or whether or not he's even the right guy to do this with, but they need to get an HC they have committed trust in and they need to guarantee him the reigns for like 4 years. Draft a QB, draft some OL, get some vet role players that are cheap but reliable, and start building from their. But they gotta be willing to have a couple down years, maybe a few losing-to-.500 seasons, so they can build a foundation to put some pieces on top of. Not even saying they gotta hit on a franchise QB in the draft, maybe it takes 2 tries, but they gotta have some foundational stability. Like you said, crazy how they had that a couple years ago - and then it just crumbled. But dominant players don't stay dominant forever, guys go to different teams and retire. Can't always be rebuilding, but ya gotta always be building.

@@RyTrapp0 I actually think the roster isn’t too bad they just aren’t playing well. Kelly and Nelson are solid pieces on the line and the d line is pretty good too. Our linebacker group is pretty decent if 53 plays. We are set at RB.
