I love to jog, and fell victim to the whole thing that it's bad for my PCOS. it's just recently that I started not to care about what I read and just do what makes me happy. So thank you for further validating that my love for cardio is perfectly fine 💕

I really hate going to the gym so I started something new this year. No I'm not convincing anyone, just sharing what has worked for me. I have done Beachbody's Transform 20 - 6 weeks, (lots of HIIT and strength in the form of burpies, push ups, planks, etc.) for three rounds and two rounds of LIIFT 4 - 8 weeks, (which is strength training with weights and HIIT). I have lost 24 pounds and 15 inches (waist, hips, chest). I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2001 but new before the diagnosis that I had it. This is the first time in a decade I've been able to lose a significant amount of weight even though I've spent years working out. For me, all the exercise in the world, doesn't work without healthy low carb eating. I have to do both.

I’ve been working out for about 5 months. 4-5 times a week doing strength training and HIIT. I haven’t dropped any weight and in fact my libido is non existent now. In the past when I would lose weight it was from extreme exercise and keto diets. That was 8 years ago. I’m really really struggling this time. However my energy level and endurance is better. It’s frustrating living with this and trying to figure out what exercise and diet works best now that I’m older and hormones have shifted in different ways.

Try to cut DOWN HIIT AND increase your daily steps instead and try to keep your stress levels down and I recommend taking a supplement called ovasitol , I swear it’s the golden ticket for PCOS , of course with diet/exercise included

THANK YOU 🙏🏼 I have pcos and see posts saying things are bad for me even tho these are the things making me feel good! ♥️ it’s so tiring and confusing, cause when i try and do what the post says I feel worse and then I think “maybe it just needs time”.. but I loooove running and I feel like a glass of milk sometimes makes my blood sugar stabil and I feel like potatoes sometimes also makes me more stabil than something pcos friendly. Sometimes I feel like I can feel what a food is going to do to me.. sometimes I can be like “a glass of orange juice right now wouldn’t hurt, I can feel I’m stable enough” and sometimes I can feel it would mess me up

Is Yoga a good form of strength training for PCOS? Is it equivalent to for example using free weights as far as the benefits to lower androgens?
@ThePCOSPersonalTrainer4 жыл бұрын
It depends. Some types of yoga like Power yoga help build strength.

Volleyball is my favorite form of workout, but I can really only do that once or twice a week at the most because of the obvious need for other players. I actually really enjoy the cardio HIIT workout I got from your site like 5 years ago, and I utilize it as often as I can on my elliptical. I try so hard to like strength, but I always feel sick afterwards, unless I take it really easy, and then it just feels like I'm wasting my time... I will keep trying to find ways to love it, though.

Hi! Is there a lightweight form of strength training that would help with insulin resistance? I can’t lift heavy weights due to varicose veins but would love to try a gentle yet effective form of strength training if there is such a thing

Pilates could be a suitable option, or barre workouts or resistance band workouts. I have a couple resistance band workouts on this channel

Great video. Wouldn't exercise types which increase cortisol be bad?
@ThePCOSPersonalTrainer Жыл бұрын
I've read similar claims about exercise causing Cortisol to be high. The logic is flawed and academic research has debunked this myth. I made a video on this topic here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fXnQgmtpj76BobM The body's response to chronic stress (like sleep deprivation and emotional stress) fundamentally differs from how our bodies respond to exercise. From what I understand, cortisol levels spike during vigorous exercise (like HIIT) and then drop quickly. Plus, vigorous has been shown across multiple medical studies to be the most effective modality for improving insulin resistance in PCOS. IR is involved in some of the same feedback loops that chronically high cortisol and androgens, so HIIT might even help with high cortisol (maybe). The only exception is over-exercising. Which is a form of chronic stress! To avoid over-exercising, limit your workouts to no more than 60 minutes a session and I'd keep HIIT sessions to 20 minutes or less.

Hi I have pcos and insulin resistance and a hirsutism that means increased level of testosterone already in my body, so is the strength training still going to be safe for me?
@ThePCOSPersonalTrainer4 жыл бұрын
Yes, strength training can help PCOS women lower their testosterone.

I need to add strength training to my workouts. I have pcos and Fibromyalgia soo i will be sore but it will help my body in the long run. My question is, how much cardio should I do a day? I walk my dog 30 minutes a day and then go on the treadmill for 30 minutes. Should I lower the treadmill to 15?
@ThePCOSPersonalTrainer3 жыл бұрын
FMS is so tough! My Grandma and several clients over the years had it 🤗. Make sure you have at least 24-48 hours rest between each training session. Your current cardio schedule is fine (as long as you feel good.) On days that you strength train I would just drop the treadmill session.
