I used a wooden toothpick to clean mine. Surprising whats stuck in there. Charges perfectly now. Saved me a big job.

I did some cleaning some time ago using some alcohol for electronic because i though that connection is tarnished. But it was not about the connection but amount of the dirt/dust inside. It works perfectly now as well.

Before anyone does this get a freaking needle and clean the lint out your phone it might look empty but it's all just compacted in the bottom of ur port . The bottom of ur port should be to the bare metal ...so if ur usb port aint charging or data aint transferring scratch the bottom of ur USB c port and u will see what I'm talking about...I was about to do this whole replacement

I bought the part, tools and was ready to open up my phone but I read your comment and decided to give it a try, used a wooden toothpick and there was a ton of lint inside the port, cleaned it perfectly and now my phone charges again like new. Thanks for the tip!

To be honest, I paid the $100 for this. It was worth it because I didn't have these tiny screwdrivers and electronic repair kit lying around, so that would have cost me about $60 to buy those tools (and then I would just have them without needing them again), plus the $15 dollars for the charging port. So then you're looking at a labor cost of about $25 which I think is reasonable considering you know that it will be done correctly. Not terrible.

@saharlevi2063 in my case the charging port I had actually had a piece fall off after installing it. The video worked fine, I just bought a cheaply made chargingport.

try another cable forst. some cheap cables doesnt have data transfer or if they do then they can also be usb 2.0... Happens when you buy unknown brands from ebay/amazon..

ive tried 4 boards from amazon, 4 separate sellers and all of them fix the usb charging port but i get NO reception. keeps telling me "searching for service". its WORSE. i go back to my original board and the chsrging port is still broken but at least i have service. what gives? do i need to do something special or is EVERY BOARD defective?
