Achille Lauro had this irriverent style since years, he's not inspired by Damiano. You can see it also in Sanremo exhibition of 2020. He always tried to shock people with his exhibitions. Of course there are some similitudes, they both want to break the standards but they are not so similar. Lauro's lyrics are even more irriverent than Måneskin

Achille and Damiano: 2 different world. To me, Achille is cool, fresh. Maneskins are more "classic", both Achille and Maneskins are inspired from sounds of a decade or two back, 90's sounds in Achille's songs, and the 70' rock sounds in Maneskin's. No one of them are truly innovative, to me. But they're good. Very good.

You also caught some typical peculiarities of his music just from this performance that are actually part of his unique style. I'm pretty happy Achille Lauro has room in Eurovision. Even if for sure is not best Italian product at music level (not comparable in my opinion, with maneskin or mamhood) for many reasons, firstly for inadequate voice quality in singing, but still as artist he has a project and I thought his character is suitable for an international audience, even more than just for Italian audience. On first listen I had no clue what to think of this one. It seems so randomly put together, and even if it made me bop my head to the beat, I was still a bit underwhelmed at first. But when all's said and done, it only SEEMS simple and unintentionally funny, it's actually cleverer than you think. I understand it as being about a lady stripper empowering herself just by showing in clear, non-flowery terms who she is, and I think that the music, since it's not very complex to my ears, matches with it perfectly. That stage doesn't do it justice, but hey, we're talking San Marino here, you can't really blame them. Overall, even if I still think it's presented a bit strangely, the surrealist in me is kind of vibing with this completely, and it's not one to sleep on!

May be someone already wrote it, but Achille Lauro is rather well known in Italy since 2012, when Maneskin members where 12-13 years old. When Maneskin first appeared in Italy someone compared them to Achille Lauro, who was alredy present since some years. So , even if there can be some "mutual influence", probably Achille Lauro influenced Maneskin before that Maneskin could influence him. His look has always been very eccentric since when Maneskin where really childs. Someone doesn't like Achille Lauro because they say that his songs are somehow "arrogants". His songs however contains some sort of homages to other songs/singers. Even in this song he mentions Madonna, Britney, Personal Jesus, etc. Someone compares him with David Bowie, not for the music, rather for the use of make up (more often they compare him to another older italian singer whose name is Renato Zero wich is well known in Italy. Renato Zero started to make heavy use of make up in the 70s and had a very eccentric and extravagant look for those years. And he still has)

It's so refreshing, when so many KZbinr reactors don't actually have enough knowledge of music to make an informed critique of a song and only end up sounding superficial and ignorant. You were clever and intuitive enough to see that it's Achille Lauro who's probably a bit of an influence for Maneskin and not the other way round - though as you rightly say, these artists are pretty different to one another (and I can't tell you how infuriating it is to hear so many people dismiss Achille as a "cheap copy of Maneskin"! I have to be perfectly honest, straight after Sanremo, after I read that one of my favourite acts, La Rappresentante di Lista wanted to apply to Una voce per San Marino with their song "Ciao ciao", I was rooting like mad for them! I don't normally adore their style, retro-but-modern disco pop (with a very slight hint of punk), but in their case there was something about their Sanremo song that I adored, more than "Brividi", even. I think however it was too late for La rappresentante di lista to apply, so they didn't end up on Una voce per San Marino... and Achille Lauro showed up instead. I was disappointed for about two seconds, then I heard this song, "Stripper", and was totally won over. I am now thrilled that yet another edgy and interesting Italian artist will get a chance to perform at Eurovision. If people can be intelligent enough to stop comparing him to a "cheap" Maneskin (how unfair!), they might actually see what a talented showman he is.

In it, at one point he "baptises" himself as a Gospel choir from New York sing behind him. This caused so much controversy (although some self-confessed Catholics, such as Sanremo's presenter Amadeus, said it didn't offend him at all). It's odd, because I found Achille's "self-baptism" actually more like an homage than an insult to the ritual. There's beauty in many forms of art and some people just refuse to see it.

Achille is not the greatest singer, but I love his performances. To me he is a true artist, though he gets lots of criticism here in Italy. He was established long before Maneskin, I wouldn't make any comparisons here. I hope the Eurovision staging will be better. In Italy Achille Lauro got noticed before the Måneskin, I don't think he is inspired by them. Great performer, sometimes a little over the line for my taste. the song is in his usual style, nothing new, also the lyrics are the same, a lot of references to singers, songs, popular films and brands, often not linked by a logical thread. I agree with you that is a good step forward for San Marino. The song is enjoyable but no more than 6.

Achille Lauro is like Marmite: love it or hate it. Personally, I think the music and vocal skills are nearly non existent (Maneskin are skilled musicians and Damiano a great singer, A.L. isn't). On a performance level - yes, this guy rocks and can teach a lesson or two to anyone (some SanRemo performances are a must) but this is probably one of the worst from this fame driven "idiot"...I only hope the ESC performance is going to be another shocking cringe/cool experience (expect the unexpected).

Nel caso di Achille Lauro senza dubbio un' unicità per tutti i suoi contenuti che vengono da lontano, sin dagli inizi 2012 (e come autore ancor prima) che non può certo essere paragonato a nessun altro... Poi oggi, c'è chi fa paragoni "stretti" tra Lauro e i Maneskin soprattutto perché si limitano ad una superficiale occhiata ad un certo stile vagamente simile...Sarà possibile limitarsi a questo poiché i Maneskin hanno adottato lo stesso Stylist Nick Cerioni?? Questa canzone è arrivata 11a a sanremo e onestamente non so neanche come possa partecipare spazzatura del genere in un festival come quello e addirittura all'eurovision ma ormai vanno di moda artisti scarsi come achille lauro.... Meno male che l'Italia è rappresentata da ben altri artisti e ben altra canzone

@@sabinafiorentini3298 hahaha bella risposta.....ma sai una cosa Sabina...esiste una buona fetta di popolazione che critica a prescindere e lo dimostra il fatto che questo qua San Remo neanche lo ha visto altrimenti non avrebbe detto che si era piazzata 11ma. È gente prima di tutto prevenuta sicuramente gli è bastato vedere che era Achille Lauro per dire è uno schifo ma il vero problema per loro non è la canzone ma il loro orientamento sessuale, l'unicità individuale viene vista quasi come un pericolo o una cosa assolutamente da isolare non capendo che siamo tutti simili ma ognuno diverso,..ma e come voler spiegare quanto è colorato il mondo a chi vede in bianco e nero.
