As an amateur historian, a huge fan of all history, and who watches nearly every big historian KZbinr, I must say, this is my favorite channel. The work and detail that goes into these, makes it look like a big budget documentary series. I can sit here for an hour and a half and I can barely tell so much time has gone by, just soaking in everything presented here. I will continue to watch every single video you post, and I almost never do patreon, I will be joining yours to further support the hard work you do. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Napoleon was undoubtedly a rare military talent, witty and successful politician. He won lot of battles, gain a lot of titles. However, a special trubute paid to him from a historical perspective, he still remained an object of significant interest to researchers all over the world. His political decisions are outlined course of French history for very many years forward, on the other hand, Napoleon himself, as a true national leader made a bunch of mistakes, that doomed thriving and opulent Empire he created. He ventured to undertake some crucial false steps. From philosophical viewpoint it is of course is a big lesson for progeny.

This is not about Napoléon, but here we go: contrary to common belief, Robespierre was one of the most moderate members of the Comité de Salut Public. His image still suffers, after 250 years, from the various black legends crafted and spread by those who sent him to the scaffold. But it's also worth stressing that the man, influential as he was, wasn't the director, or president, or whatever of the dreaded Comité, which was a collective institution where no member held more authority than the others. He was actually working to end the Reign of Terror when the Comité was overthrown at the instigation of Fouché, the murderous, bloodthirsty thug who knew Robespierre was very intent on holding him accountable for his numerous crimes.

I look forward to the new 2023 Napoleon Movie! I hear a 4 hour version will be released… but main movie is 2.5 hours. I am especially interested in the 100 Days in 1815. He had so many times in 1813 and 1814 to agree to peace and give up captured lands but Napoleon is a habitual Gambler… no way he would sit back and just give up glory. THE British knew this and that is why they were so negative when peace was offered.

this man should have been borned between Alexander the Great and Julius caesar. Everything about this man is ancient. His perception of the risk/reward couple, his conception of politics, his way of leading armies, even in his Icarian race towards immortality. Why did providence place him at this time? Perhaps because to definitively crush 1500 years of royal power over Europe, a man from the past was needed to definitively crush any temptation to go back in time. Freedom can only be born from the ashes of tyranny, and it took a man from ancient ceasars to light the fire

Fascinating history. I was drawn to watching this because of the Ridley Scott movie on Napoleon which has come out (2023), of which I'm not hearing good reports (trust the movies to balls it up) --- So a straightforward and **factual** documentary is very welcome, especially this first part which covers Napoleon's early life, influences and accomplishments, and the world he inhabited.

Napoleon is only seen as small due to a style in British and German newspapers of the time. They would always depict foreign leaders as tiny to give the impression they were infantile in nature. That's literally where this very British trope stems from.
