Exceptionally, you can find the PDF right here : www.theperfectfrench.com/y-and-en Try this sentence to practice : J’ai envoyé des fleurs à mes parents I sent flowers to my parents : I sent them flowers : I sent them some :

Je leurs en ai envoyé .... i also am unsure about using leurs/leurs in DOP-IOP context :( do they change pluriality or stay the same ignoring the sujet's number?
@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane
@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane 4 жыл бұрын
I am so sorry I didn't see your reply for some reasons! So leur before a verb is always singular. It would take a S in front of a noun so when translated to THEIR I will make a video about that in the next few months :)

Madame Dylane, Do not feel bad regarding your teachings, for they are treasures for us who can not afford a private tutor. I adore your lessons and I refer to you as my professor to whom I owned all my respects for being so noble as to teach us for no charge of money in a perfect teaching and make us accomplish our dream of learning; speaking for myself the most lovely language in existence the French language. All my respects and gratitude to you Madame Dylane.

After learning several languages such as Turkish, Arabic, ancient Hebrew, and a few others, and with Ukrainian and Russian as my mother tongues, I am learning French now and I am surprised by its level of complexity. Bonjour, pour la phrase " il s'occupe de son frère " (13:50) je pense qu'on doit dire { il s'occupe de lui } pas il en s'occupe . Merci de me réagir 😊

Technically yes, and no :D En is often used for people in spoken French.

taking a deep breath and filling up my coffee mug now to watch this . . . in theory not a hard topic and maybe 2/3rds of the time I don't have a problem, but sometimes I see y or en and think "why," as there is no obvious indicator! ok, allons-y. ¡Vamos allá!

I think it's the abstract things with y that were confusing me: je m'y intéresse (à la peinture), because it's not a place, just goes with the à. Je comprends mieux maintenant!

Bonjour Dylane ! Thank you for your great explanation of this really tough part of French grammar! You are the best teacher for me. I have a question. Do we use y and en to replace only things or there are exceptions like in sentence Il s'occupe de son frère - Il s'en occupe. Merci beaucoup !!!!
@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane
@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Elena ❤️ You are not the only one confused by "son frère" in the comments 😅 We can also say "s'occuper de lui", both work in this case. Just keep in mind that when the verb is followed by DE, we will use EN, even if it's not abstract. Does it make more sense ?

@@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane Dylane, I think that we were a little confused because some french teaching sources say EN and Y should NEVER be used for people. But maybe that is being too formal and this rule is now ignored in general usage ??
@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane
@TheperfectfrenchwithDylane 4 жыл бұрын
It's definitely a case by case area. I shouldn't have include it because I feel it will confuse you. But it all comes down to the verb and verbs followed by "de" aren't always let's say people friendly. For example Manger de would refer to cannibalism if used with a person, but it works with animals. Does it make sense ?
