When I tell someone I play table tennis, often their reaction is 'yeah, I used to be really good at that'. When we come to play they have virtually no idea, don't even know how to hold the racket. Table tennis at a good level is fun and great exercise. At the top level it is unbelievable!

Kreanga is still the most powerful backhand on history. I've seen the video you linked, Zhou Yu's backhand is good in technique but nothing comparable to Kreanga's one. I don't know how much spin Kreanga put sometimes, because this is really what makes the difference at pro level, but in terms of power...is the best!

There can be many shots, but none gives me the kick like a proper backhand smash return. The opponent looks always helpless after his serve like "wtf happened there". I have played some Kreanga like return shots (although much flatter with no spin) and for a beginner I felt like I was floating. Although I got beaten later ;-)

Miss the old days...so many great matches between Kreanga and Samsonov. Much more power than nowadays. Cuddles to Michael Maze and Schlager as well. TT has changed a lot over the years.

Yes, that's totally right! It's not only a sport, it's really difficult and exhausting. I find it very stupid, if people say, that it is just a boring hobby.

Kreanga's backhand is rely impressive because it come more natural to them than most people's forehand. It's responsive and powerful, but from what I can see, it is very predictable. Straight lines mostly, and the added spin Zhou Yu get on his backhand, I'd think it would be much harder to return his shots, than Kreanga's.
