Hey Folks, I was one of those lucky souls who signed up for Regenerative Soil Science Season 2, 5 months ago! I have to say that it has been one of the most Informative, Educational and above all FUN courses I have ever done and it literally has changed the path of my life! Matt takes something so cutting edge and complicated and presents it in such a way that we all get it, and not just get it, but be able to run with it, implement it, and start sharing what we are learning with other people and the world around us! We are hot off the presses, and I know we still have to submit our plans to Matt for assessment, and do our homework before we are officially graduated, but speaking on behalf of my fellow Season 2er's, we'll be sticking around for Season 3, just for the fun of it!! If this is your first introduction to Regenerative Soil Science, stay tuned for more Matt Powers awesomeness, and click the link, you won't be disappointed, and it might just change your world as it did mine!! Much Love, Chrystal See ya soon!!

TS 105. Yes. I think Christine Jones had been saying all plant roots fix nitrogen for a while.
@ThePermacultureStudent2 жыл бұрын
Only microbes can do it - the roots don't. The endophytes are fixing the N.
Just a day or 2 ,waiting on a replacement ATM card . ..

@@ThePermacultureStudent I feel the same Matt . The proof is UNDENIABLE. Regenerative ag . , earthship and other alternative sustainable bldgs, permaculture food forests multi level . This is how we could save ourselves and let more and more people thrive . The Loess plateau was Regenerated in 9 years even without the help of livestock . If herds and birds are rotated in a biomimicry style rotational grazing it's even faster ! Ecological Agroforestry = permanent agricultural hooray!

Hey, I’ve heard regen farmers say above 12% osm seems to be no advantage. Must have something to do with lacking some biology? Our goal to be 20% or more that’s exciting. Thanks Matt. Great work!
@ThePermacultureStudent3 ай бұрын
It's a longterm goal that's for sure (it took Singing Frog Farm 9 years to reach 12% but they'll hit 20% in 9 more years) - I don't think the folks discounting it have working commercial examples of 20% to show advantage or disadvantage so they can't make that claim - they are guessing (they rightly recognize it entails hard and consistent work). We do have those 12-25%+ SOM levels in gardens, indoor grows, food forests, and market gardens already, but we need something like the R-Soil database to let that data become more widely recognized and have things be replicated enough at a colloquial level to be recognized and set as a goal in commercial settings. The reality is SOM accrues annually in natural systems but that season's addition of SOM has a staying power that lasts for years, so we are compounding and building momentum with SOM and at the same time it's becoming finer and finer (greater and greater expressions of structure and more ability to hold more SOM effectively).

Wow so sorry to hear about your wife, that's so intense with the pills. My late fiance had to take Fentonol and I couldn't touch those. You have an incredible family from your parents to your children. God Bless you all.

I'm at 40.20 time stamp. So what about deciduous perennial plants and trees in winter? Are they still sinking carbon, using co2, expelling oxygen. Photosynthesizing without their green leaves? Or is it left up to the evergreens? If so, is the environment more rich in co2 in winter when those plants are asleep? What effect does that have on the environment and soil microbes? How active are soil microbes through the winter in NJ? Are they more active in a permaculture (mulched polyculture) landscape, regardless of temperature?
@ThePermacultureStudent2 жыл бұрын
Evergreens aren't photosynthesizing in winter either. Fungal #'s go up in winter as things decompose - increasing the exhalation of natural CO2 from the earth. Most oxygen is coming from the ocean in general and in winters it's all ocean generated oxygen. Provide the food and habitat and microbes will thrive and do their work throughout the year.

Matt, thank you so much for your reply! I've wondered this for a long time! Fantastic.
@mynjgarden2 жыл бұрын
OK, I'm at 46 time stamp... I guess I wouldn't call it the same thing as beavers (I think rabbits do this too)... I would say in that case it's like they are hunting and trapping. Plants putting out exudates as bait, luring in microbes, and then consuming all of it again to gain the nutrients they get from the microbes. So do these steps get added to the whole process of photosynthesis?
@ThePermacultureStudent2 жыл бұрын
Great question - I think that it's enough to say Photosynthesis is a sink of Carbon, a release of oxygen, and a sink of Protons/Energy, such that it promotes microbial and endophytic life, builds SOM, increases soil fertility, and builds soil structure directly and indirectly. Photosynthesis is the process by which plants conduct energy and fuel into the soil for life to power all the reactions we rely upon.

Agreed! Hooray for plants, photosynthesis and microbes! Thank you, Matt!

~1:02:45 Not just how much water but the phase of water. 👍🏻 Have not seen any thorough studies, but found reference to significant reduction achieved with no detrimental affect to crop. Not aware of any 'studies' yet anyways. I'm also guestimating mocrowave range electromagnet signals can reduce EZ compared to Pollocks findings of IR range increases. This would cause cascading effects on biological systems not readily apparent except as inhibitory to vitality as water acts as the substrate for all natural organic biological functioning. Thanks for sharing. Trying to grasp and apply👍🏻

I've watched a lot of content on restructured water and it is used industrially as it greatly reduces corrosion. The plant I saw was in Germany. Water : the great mystery I think is one of the docs.🤣👍🖖🙏❤️ But it is old now.. can intentions restructure water? 🤣🤣
@kabbak Жыл бұрын
@@brucehitchcock3869 I'm not aware of studies isolating intentions although our beliefs/attitudes affect our actions. I think biodynamic farming might incorporate idea of intentions, not sure, need to read more. There are studies showing words spoken affecting water crystal formation when the water is frozen.
