@@МаусГастон Folk, I believe. Bob Dylan, 1962, though I liked Peter, Paul and Mary's version, along with Puff, the Magic Dragon.
@charlesperigord15996 ай бұрын
@@МаусГастон When it came out in 1962, most people considered it folk music and considered Bob Dylan to be a folk music performer. In 1965 Dylan played an electric guitar at the Newport Folk Festival, opening a doorway from folk music into rock and roll. He went through that doorway, as did others (e.g., Jerry Garcia & Bob Weir transitioned from Mother McCree's Uptown Jug Champions to the Grateful Dead).
@biot21566 ай бұрын
@@qitrodz I'd agree it is (and was) more folk than pop with both Dylan and Peer, Paul, and Mary. I also preferred PP&M's version to Dylan's but I think it was mostly because of his more nasal sound than theirs. Plus, they harmonized beautifully, even acapella. I loved hearing it here with the mandolin & banjo. It added a whole new dimension to the sound.

I just keep coming back to this song. I love how The Petersens take an iconic song and make it their own. Their arrangements are amazing. And, Julianne's vocals here are perfect for this song. As others have mentioned, the mandolin sounds great as do the harmonies from Ellen and Katie. I grew up listening to Bob Dylan and, to me, this is just a perfect cover of his song.

What a brilliant and unique version of Bob Dylan's classic "Blowin in the Wind" released by the amazing family band "The Petersens" on Bob Dylan's Birthday. This wonderful version is unique from all of the others in so many good ways. It features Julianne, the youngest who has such a lovely and sweet singing voice. Then there is the awesome mandolin solo at the beginning and end of the song, the harmonies of the three lovely sisters, particularly with the beautiful "La, La, Las" in the middle of the song and the brilliant musical mastery of each one of the band and featuring Emmett, the "Amazing Dobro Man" who is right up there with the worlds greatest players, plus all of the heart-warming smiles of these genuinely beautiful and lovable decent people. And even the outro is special featuring the keen humor of Julianne and Matt. All done live, as with other great live videos that you should check out of this band who represent everything that is right with American music today. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY and THANK YOU for all of your terrific songs TO THE GREAT BOB DYLAN, and so many, many more!

Once again a truly innovative and perhaps truly unique arrangement of this great classic. Julz singing it by changing the sequence of some notes is fantastic. The dobro and fiddle solos are truly something precious that give that touch of particular beauty to the whole ensemble. Then the harmonies of Ellen and Katie, the rhythm parts with Matt, Karen, Ellen and Julianne herself. In short, great cover for this great song of peace by the great legend Bob Dylan. Thanks guys, as always! ❤

Hey Roberto! Great comment, as always! This song was simply lovely- a perfect fit for the Petersens… I notice Julianne’s mandolin skills are getting richer. Today was a perfect example, do you agree? Have a terrific weekend!

@@emmajo4880 Hi Emma. Thanks for the kind words, as always. I also read your comment and I liked it a lot. Going to pubs in Ireland and simply playing a few songs can bring great insights for the whole band. And this song proves it. Julianne has certainly grown and has become increasingly aware of her abilities, which are truly many. The idea of starting and closing the song with just the mandolin was truly brilliant. Her ability to play the instrument is improving more and more and I think she is starting to bring it with her into the recording studio too. A great weekend to you too, Emma!!!

@@Roberto-pd8vn It is a HUGE dream and high item on my bucket list to play music beside the musicians of Ireland and be a part of that kind of community for a little while- I don't believe there is anything quite like that kind of special! If Julianne decides to bring her mandolin skills to the recording studio, as you suspect (and I hope) she will, I think that will be the icing on the cake to The Petersens' future albums- even though the cake was wonderful before! We shall see... 😉
