Billy, I’d love to watch you do the cobbling. It wouldn’t be boring at all. You always play the perfect music for the job and you speed it up a little and I don’t get bored at all!!! So don’t wait. Just do it when you’re ready. I’ll be waiting and ready to see those cobbles transform the courtyard. 🎉🎉

You look happy to have some mates working with you inside the convent, Billie! Not as solitary rattling about that large complex when you can hear others there. Sean’s experience obviously means a lot as you both have similar visions of what needs doing. Ryan’s office project will help him learn the ropes with your guidance. A win for you both as that is another room getting redecorated.❤

It takes a rare talent to make pipe cutting fascinating and you did just that Billy. The apartments are in good shape and will bring in a steady income when rented. Great to see Ryan learning new skills and Sean putting his to good use. Thanks Billy🙏🏻❤️

Regarding the cobbles. You could always have Ryan do guest dailies while you do the cobbles.. or cycle through the other. Each person does a daily on a different day. Would be an interesting change, having guest videographers 😊
@janepost1502 жыл бұрын
That was my same thought. Cycling through other people to see their perspective as they work on the convent.

Give this a try, Billy. Step one - open the cracks in the plaster with your screwdriver or the pointed end of a can opener. Step two- use interior caulking in your caulking gun and run a bead of caulk into the crack. Step three - smooth it level with your putty knife. When it dries, you can give it a light going over with your plaster if needed. The caulk will remain a bit pliable and help from the cracks reappearing. I used to do this in my 1910 house with horsehair plaster walls and ceilings.

Q: When you take on a new project of this scale (such as the chateau or convent) what is your method of prioritizing what jobs need done first? Would love to hear your answer in a vlog! Thanks, Billy! Love the dailies!

Thanks for the daily content, it really provides a clearer look at the layout of the convent. Of course it goes without saying I'm excited about all the upcoming renovations and hopefully we can find more saints for the chapels alcoves 😉

It's great to see Sean back on the team. He is truly skilled in the various work he takes on and as you pointed out Billy, Sean does have a discerning eye on projects as well as antiques, especially copper. My grandfather was very much like this. He could see the quality of an object or project despite being hidden under layers of ugly paint or wallpaper and layers of dust and dirt.

Skirting for the floor in the US is called base boards. Fun to hear how the same thing is called by different names in different places. Having a kitchen will be so nice. Since it it family in the offices, it will be nice to be able to cook a quick lunch to share or to have someplace to pop in to have a cup of tea.

I personally love the bright colours in the 2nd apartment, Billy. Very happy & uplifting. 😊 An idea for the 40 dormitory rooms could be to rent each room out as an office/art studio space. There are lots of people out there that just need that extra space. All the best with whatever you do. 🌈

The apartments are really nice. So much potential! I'm glad Sean thought so too. Are you considering turning the attic spaces into living spaces? The views from the attic are probably really nice as well. When you prepare to do the cobbles, you could just do quick progress vlogs so we can see how far you've gotten each day, and maybe take a couple minutes to answer questions? Even if your vlogs are only 5 minutes, it's always nice to see your progress. It might give you the incentive you'll need to try to get as much done each day as you can so we can continue to be impressed with your amazing work ethic. Something to think about. Hope you all have a peaceful evening, Billy. 💗💗💗

Hi, The convent could be used for a cooking school with students staying in the numerous rooms. Or a place for a famous artist to hold classes for a few days for students. Corporate retreats who supply everything and you just provide the venue. Weddings in the courtyard with option of using dinning room, all catered, just the use of venue. Offer the bridal party a choice to stay at the convent the night before. Love watching, thanks to all who put in such hard work, it looks fantastic.

I would definitely watch you install cobble stones daily!! Much better than the base board installation lol. Also, I actually LOVED 💛💛 the yellow walls! I have my porch a school bus, slightly yellow mustard yellow. Deep/bright colors go nicely against my 108 year old woodwork. Cheers!

Cobbling is hard work and a skill that not everyone has. It might be a better solution to work with a company which knows how to properly make designs with drainage. These cobbles from a street can be used not straight like in a road or driveway. Last week a group of us were in Limburg am Lahn to sing in the magnificent cathedral. All the streets, alles, walkways and lanes were done with cobbles. The arch design was used with borders which had iron castings for drainage. It was great for this old city area and was quite impressive.

Your are fortunate to have two chapels. Even though they have been desanctified, the years of prayers and masses with devoted nuns leaves spiritual DNA in the walls. You are on the right track to give respect and reverence to a once holy place. When you have restored the chapel even with the bell, you will have the admiration of many. Nice work.

Great tour! The apartments look great. Have you thought about having peoples names engraved on each cobble for a fee? People here is the US buy them up in ballparks and such. Having a loved ones name on a cobble in France would be very attractive especially for those who served in the war.

Do have a question about Ryan’s office? If the plaster board is covering a stone wall. Why not remove the board, expose the stone for the wall? Personally believe it would give the room something that only a few of them could have. Original walls of the convent! One less wall that needs painting, in all of the rooms that share the wall too. Just a thought and possible time/money saver as well🙂
@ImaLeshLushnIcantgetmyPhil2 жыл бұрын
@@Sgirl Thought about that for a moment also. If it was a original exterior wall, it is not currently. Since it’s located down the hall from Billy’s office. Imho believe it is a huge waste of time patching the plaster. It will be a on going issue. Besides, it the plaster board is removed, it will take some pressure off of the other boards, hopefully causing less cracking in those. Like a said before, just some random off the cuff thoughts🙂
