It's great that you did a real followup and plan to do more in the future! Do you use the systemic insecticide just for seedlings or also into adulthood? I stopped using systemic neonicotinoids because I had dead bees when my cacti would flower but am considering using it for seedlings. Anyway I subscribed and can't wait to see the next update.

Hi! Thanks for your videos. May i know if your initial seedling pots (rectangle ones) have any holes at the bottom? If there aren't to keep the environment as sterile or fungus/mold free as possible, then how do you soak the fungicide? Only by spraying?

Wow, that reveal of the bulging plastic container filled with asterias seedlings is magical lol. I hope to have this success one day but I have no idea what type of fungicide to use. I am from the U.S. so if anyone has any recommendations, please let me know!

I use fungicide since I don’t sterilize my medium, and sanitize the seeds. The one I use has a Manconzeb as active ingredient. If you do not want to use some fungicide, you could try sterilizing the sowing mix in microwave oven, and then deep the seeds in a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water (1:10) for a few minutes. By the way, my friend is from Texas, US. She also grows Astrophytum from seeds. Maybe you can ask her how she grows her seeds or what fungicide she uses. Here is her instagram: madamcacti

sir would You use any npk, magnesium fertilizer like Peters professional to 1 -9 months old astro. without biostimulant? 2.Is seaweed extract biostimulant?

Yes, I use Peters Professional, just dilute it to a quarter (1/4) or half (1/2) of the recommended dosage. I usually use this after 3-6 months when the osmocote is not effective anymore. If you don’t have biostimulants, that is okay. Biostimulants are just like extra vitamins for plants. Seaweed extract is a biostimulants. But you may want to dilute it to at least a quarter of the recommended dosage. Then for the frequency use it like once a month or two since the nutrients of this product are not guaranteed or standardized, unlike products like Siam Early grow which have guaranteed analysis. (PS seaweed extract works well with leafy plants)

For this one, I sometimes mix it with the new potting mix or sometimes I usually use them for my other leafy plants.

Those seedlings look so healthy. How old are they because you remove the lids?

They are 3 months old when I opened the lids. Then 6 months old when I transplanted them.

thanks for the video, one of my young seedlings is bicephalic! i know it's rare, it had grown in a corner of the seedbed and i had to move it otherwise it would have died, it's definitely half the size of the others....At first I thought they were 2 little plants that had grown with their roots entangled, but instead the root is only one with 2 heads, it's very strange

That’s great for you. I once grew a seedling with multiple heads. I kept it in a separate pot so I wouldn’t forget about it. It is now in a 3-inch pot and may need to be repotted. This is the exciting and great thing about growing cacti from seeds; you will never know what you’ll get. Happy planting, and goodluck with your dichotomous cactus seedling. Thank you for watching!

sir can I use triacontanol 0.05% ec (Biostimulant) to 1year+ cactus (mainly astrophytum)

I haven’t use it. I researched about it, and it seems okay and does great things for plants. If it is good for other plants then you can use it. Best way to apply is to try using half or a quarter of the dilution of its recommended dosage to some test cactus. If there is no negative reaction, then you can use it.

Sir how can i remove algae from seed germination pot?

I usually just remove them manually by scraping off the layer of algae. Adding top dressing like small pumice or silica sand and limiting fertilizer use will help reduce algae growth. Although a 10% bleach solution can kill algae, I prefer to remove them manually since the seeds are still delicate.
