@plantsinjars, I have a request. There is a new type of pineapple that's come on the market that's pink. To prevent people from growing their own pink pineapples at home, the developers remove the crowns from the pineapples before they are shipped. Sometimes there is a little bit of crown leaf tissue still alive from incomplete cuts of the crown, but I have been unsuccessful getting any of them to take using cutting methods of propagation. Can you demonstrate how to sanitize and grow a pineapple plant using a crown leaf from tissue culture?

This would be very interesting!

there is a study done called "studies on micropropagation of pineapple" (atawia et al) that tells you their method and protocol for propagating one! you can find it for free online. good luck!

I hate these dumb poachers. What value do these plants have if they are sold at any hardware store? Theres only one natural environment for them in the US and these awful people just go in and take them like it's nothing.

Venus Flytraps are so cool in culture. Mine lived in culture for over a year without ever opening the container!

I love carnivorous plants. Also really looking forward to the virus removal via meristem TC. I hope to apply it to raspberries.

The number 1 thing I learned here is I need a new stir plate. Mine CANNOT get a full liter (or more maybe) of water ripping and running like that without the bar flying off.

Can you please do a video on fruit plants like blueberry? And I watched one video where you mentioned all plants can be tissue cultured. So would be interested in knowing how to culture vegetables like onion, chives which don't really have stems but have a bulb.

This is actually amazing! The Venus fly traps are dwindling in the wild. Tissue culture could possibly help rebuild it in the future!

As long as there is good enough genetic diversity -- it would probably be good to research how many genetic lines are needed for stability.

If you do end up with contamination and the plants in the agar medium look perfectly healthy, do you still reject and throw the sample?

Hey i like your channel, but i know nothing about tissue culture at all. why would creating tissue cultures of plants be useful? Is it to replicate or clone a specific plant in a sterile environment? Please elaborate!

Hey! I have a question about tc. Is it possible to create a verigated plant in tc? Like take the non verigated version and use hormones to get it to verigate? I have been wondering this for a while, and can't really find anything online that answers this directly.
@plantsinjars6 ай бұрын
You need to start with a variegated mother plant to have a chance of getting variegated plants from tc

If you're a fellow enthusiast and lack an orbital shaker table, you can use a bed-slinger 3D printer like the Ender 3 to achieve the same effect. By writing some G-code, you can make the printer oscillate perfectly to continuously stir your sterilizing solution. Also you're videos are amazing thank you for all the knowledge! It's been about 10 years since I fired up my laminar flow hood

At 9:50 did you take that out of a refrigerator? Do you have content on storing TC in refrigeration? If not can you do that?
@plantsinjars6 ай бұрын
Nope! That was just a shelf kept at ambient room temp. Some people store tc in the fridge to slow down growth if they are trying to preserve genetics in vitro
@Scooby-Snacks6 ай бұрын
