2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1; Performance & Kerb Appeal; Ford Mustang Mach1 Review & Road Test

The 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 returns after a 17-year absence as a tuned-up version of the Mustang GT. The new 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is intended to sit between the Mustang GT and the Mustang Shelby GT500, taking the place of the Shelby GT350 now that it’s no longer being made. There are multiple configurations and capabilities, so not every Mustang Mach 1 is a replacement for the Shelby GT350, but they all sit pretty close, both in capabilities and in price.
The entry-level Mustang Mach 1 is a well configured and capable Mustang, with standard equipment similar to the GT and an optional Performance Package. It gets Ford's MagneRide adaptive shock absorbers, and an active performance, adjustable-volume exhaust. The Mach 1’s standard manual six speed transmission is the Tremec, ironically from the GT350. Theres an optional 10-speed automatic transmission which has an upgraded torque converter and an additional oil cooler. The Mustang Mach 1 also has unique suspension tuning, power steering, antilock brakes and three level stability control. One of my favourite features on the Mustang Mach 1 is its active exhaust button on the steering wheel. You can program it to start in quiet mode, allowing for neighbour friendly starts and then when you get down the road you can switch it into track mode for a full on rip roaring V8 sound. After driving the new model on the road for a week in the British wintertime, I would say the improvements over the GT are highly noticeable. For a starting price of £56,000 the new Mustang Mach 1 is clearly a better all round car.

The engine used in the 1969-1970 Mach 1 351 cubic inch was a Cleveland V8 with staggered valve heads. Also available was the FE Big Block 428 Cobra Jet.

Great review there, glad you enjoyed the car. I bought one new and have been very pleased with it. Not sure on your fuel consumption figures. Mine regularly returns low 20's mpg in normal driving. One 200 mile road trip on the motorway at a steady 65mph it returned 35mpg. If yours was returning 14mpg you must have been giving it the beans ! Also the reason Mach 1 doesn't have parking sensors is because it has oil coolers behind the bumper for the rear diff. It is definitely a track focused car, all the undertrays and diffusers etc are functional for air flow and cooling, nothing on the car is for show !

Really enjoyed this review AJ, thanks. I bought a GT at Xmas and absolutely love it. These cars are insane value used now and not overpriced new. Better in every way than the old 1970 car I owned in '78 yet somehow still intrinsically Mustang! Personally I love the fastback with manual box but there's something for everyone in the range. Are they wide? Yes. Unwieldy? No. An idiot will spin one but driven with a modicum of sanity easy to pilot. Highly recommended!

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but the USA versions of the ricaros Are not power and the leather on these looks more like real leather

You are correct. Recaros are manually adjusted. The stock seats are power and leather.

Your a baller with this in an foreign country 30-40 percent more than usa, What do other countries you can order the cars to spec the way you can in the US not as many color options you can get certain packages the car doesn't come standard with certain items like the gauges in the etc. etc. The same way we can't buy certain great European cars in the United States like an M3 Wagon etc

Good review, I have the 5.0 Auto GT and according to the cars computer, I am getting 24MPG. I am using Ethanol free fuel, Esso Synergy 99,much better for the car, does more MPG than regular unleaded and it says in the owners manual to use ethanol free if you don't use it regularly, it will work on E5 or E10,but I prefer to buy petrol not alcohol !!
