I think the most heartbreaking part of this is how many people failed Gracie. How many people just allowed her to do the things she did, chocking it up to "Part of the sport". I've followed Gracie for most of her career, and I'm so happy that she seems happy. Whether or not she medals again, or ever podiums again is irrelevant. Her being happy is all that should matter now.

Over the past 10 to 15 years or so there have been several films about ice skaters and their stories, also about gymnasts. So I wonder if Netflix organisation might be interested to tell your story in a film? Just a suggestion. PS you were a fantastic representative of your chosen Sport, and a really brave and humble person. I wish you happiness in whatever you decide to do from now.

Gracie is one of countless athletes interviewed for the HBO documentary The Weight of Gold, narrated by Michael Phelps. That film spotlights the depression & suicidality that elite & Olympic athletes often experience regardless of their sport or gender.

Look at the abuse that's going on right now in Tuberidizes camp. 14 and 15cyear olds bodies pushed to the limit to perform multiple quads and 3A, the inevitably, as soon as they hit puberty, grow a few centimetres or go above about 45kg, that's it - over and out and onto the next child on ice, tarted up in warpaint and a skimpy costume. None of Eteris girls have lasted beyond 17 at the latest. All have had to retire due to incorrect technique being taught from very young, do they csn get the quads ASAP, but the SECOND the body changes the technique is gone, kaput. Look at Lipnitskaia she had2 get treatment for anorexia- and she's just who we KNOW about. Saw some horrific vids of rhythmic gymnastics training in Russia where the girls are on 600 call a day or less, weighed multiple times a day and berated if they gain so much as a few grams. And they are stopped from even having sips of water during intensive training with raving mad coaches claiming it will make them fat. 🤬 Mental

Every body type is beautiful. It's sad a number on a scale dictates talent. I was a ballerina and a gymnast. Obviously, they are quite different, but I had to leave both due to weight. It's such a problem, and it doesn't just affect models. Glad she shared her story.

As opposed to the 13-14 years old who win things and then disappear, I love watching mature women who have gone through real experiences. Gracie: do not ever give up! Believe in yourself.

She was hyped up to the point where nothing she did would be enough and when it all came to a head, people were just thinking she should get over it. She deserved so much better. Gracie, you are a wonderful skater and an inspiration.

I thank you for your honesty thru this story and thru your book. You are beautiful inside and out. Im sorry you didn't have the people in your life to help you when you needed it. You are an inspiration and as a fellow depressed, anorexic, OCD, anxious sister i applaud you and cant wait to see what you do next!

That is exactly the mental pathology I myself went down as an anorexic skater at 15-16. Same belief system- boy can I relate to Gracie.

Gracie still is such a wonderful presence on the ice. At the national championships this year she was great and it seemed like she had genuine happiness on the ice. Hopefully she sticks around as long as she wants to.

Bless her for opening up about still a very secretive and misunderstood mental illness. People just think it’s “just eat” or “pull yourself together”. I have suffered an ED from 12yrs old. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Xx

This isn’t remotely funny but I will say I laughed at 4:12 when she said she wants to be in the 2014 and 2020 Olympic. He didn’t correct her to 2018 either.

You are a beautiful person inside and out. I’m sorry for your extremely hard time you endured. God gives us our path and although we may not understand it at the time after the rain there is always a rainbow and the sun always shines. Hang in there your story will help so many people and for that you are a gold medalist. 🌈🙏☀️🙂

Why is there music over her talking? It's terribly distracting and it's rude to the person talking, it's like speaking over them. Her words are enough, let her speak.
