Timurids/Ottomans rivalry quick info. In the early 1400's Timur (of which the Timurids are named after), rampaged across central asia and quickly moved into Anatolia. He decisively defeated the Ottomans at Ankara, humiliating them and causing a crisis in which almost all of their Anatolian possessions were taken and plunged them into civil war.

I love your videos but with experience in Timurids there are a few tips 1) rival Delhi - with Sirhind independence you often have almost free show strength on them 2) let subjects RM you - you keep marriages when your ruler dies 3) you start with a cheaper dip rep advisor, you can fire radical reforms later 2 and 3 helps a lot when your ruler dies early

Ruler of timurids in 1444 is son of the Timur who annihilated ottomans in 1402 and captured the sultan, almost putting an end to the ottomans. After that, both ottomans and mamluks were afraid of timur's empire even long after his death. During shah rukhs rule he campaigned against qara qoyunlu 3 times and all of them were extremely scary for ottomans because there was a possibility that he would continue campaigning into anatolia which was ottoman land back then. That's why Murad II, father of Mehmed II, just accepted superiority of Rukh and instead focused on crusaders.

I think this is one of those experiences that is actually way more fun and engaging if you go with it even if you lose and the situation seems bad. I certainly prefer feeling as though i overcame bad circumstances with my own skills than "I reloaded until i got a close-to-optimal start and so im already way ahead of the ai". I'm not against reloading in principle ofc, and everyone can play the game however they want, but for me relying on reloads seems like the less fun way to play.

When you get a subject below 50% LD, they take a month tick to update their attitude to 'loyal'. In between, rivals can still support their independence (even when below 50% LD). That's what was happening with the Ottoman support.

The rivalry and enmity between the Ottoman Empire and the Timurid Empire were rooted in both geopolitical ambitions and ideological differences. Here's a breakdown of the key factors: 1. Competing for Regional Dominance Both the Ottomans and the Timurids were expanding powers in the late 14th and early 15th centuries, seeking to establish dominance over key regions in the Islamic world and Central Asia: The Ottomans were expanding westward into the Balkans and eastward into Anatolia. The Timurids, under Tamerlane (Timur), sought to rebuild a Mongol-style empire, controlling Central Asia, Persia, and parts of the Middle East. Their territories and spheres of influence inevitably overlapped, particularly in Anatolia, where Timur viewed the Ottoman expansion as a threat to his influence. 2. Timur’s Ambitions in Anatolia Timur saw Anatolia as a potential part of his empire. Many of the Turkic principalities (beyliks) in Anatolia, which had been absorbed or subdued by the Ottomans, appealed to Timur for help in resisting Ottoman control. This gave Timur a pretext to intervene in Anatolia. 3. Ideological and Personal Rivalry Both Timur and Bayezid I (the Ottoman Sultan at the time) claimed superiority as leaders of the Islamic world: Timur considered himself a "restorer of the Mongol Empire" and sought legitimacy as a great conqueror. Bayezid I, known as "Yıldırım" (the Thunderbolt), saw himself as the champion of Sunni Islam and sought to unify the Islamic world under Ottoman rule. The two rulers exchanged a series of hostile letters, filled with insults and challenges, further deepening the animosity. 4. The Battle of Ankara (1402) The tension culminated in the Battle of Ankara on July 20, 1402: Timur’s Strategy: Timur invaded Anatolia with a massive army, weakened the Ottomans by allying with Turkic beyliks, and disrupted Bayezid’s supply lines. Outcome: Timur decisively defeated Bayezid’s forces, captured the sultan, and temporarily fragmented the Ottoman Empire into competing factions during the Ottoman Interregnum (1402-1413). This battle was a significant humiliation for the Ottomans and a major factor in the enmity between the two empires. 5. Differing Goals After Ankara After the battle, the hostility lessened because: Timur’s death in 1405 marked the decline of the Timurid Empire as it fractured into smaller states. The Ottomans gradually recovered from their defeat and refocused on consolidating their empire, rather than seeking vengeance against the Timurids. Conclusion The enmity between the Ottomans and the Timurids was driven by a mix of ambition for territorial control, personal rivalry between Timur and Bayezid, and the clash of their broader imperial visions. While their confrontation was brief, it had significant consequences for both empires, especially the Ottomans, who emerged stronger after recovering from their temporary setback.

@@Theplaymaker57 no hate dude, i usually like your um "style" :D but this was just awful. you have five rowdy vassals from the start. the play is pretty obvious. RM them all from day one, do all the interactions for loyalty, get a diplo rep advisor, bank all mana points for devving their provinces. declare on ajam asap, spend points as needed to keep vassals under 50, when shah rukh dies dump all your points into vassal dev focusing on transoxiana first. if one vassal wont accept RM on day one improve with them until they do. otherwise all diplomats on vassal relations after RM them and dec on ajam. timmies are actually not so RNG dependant as you made them out to be, and once you finish the vassal situation after first ruler dies you legit become maybe one of top 3 nations in the game to do anything you want with. plz dont flail around like this anymore :D flail around with atleast a little sense like u usually do :*

oh and declaring a war also lowers their liberty desire, and having them waste their manpower in the ajam war makes their desire even lower. so have them on sieges or wherever they will waste most of their manpower. timmies actually rule man, so much so that i dont go for mughal flipping from them, i used to stay timmy in my plays until they reworked persia, now timmy into persia is one of my most fun plays :)
