@@dinkvjr It helped my mom that my mom basically said, "She will not have wafer thin teachers." All of my ballet teachers were normal size or plus size at that studio. Julia was also the studio owner and would not put ladies on point shoes until they're ankles were strong enough (she made dancers swim.) When my mom toured the studio, she saw some older teens that were not on pointe because they didn't have the structure. Julia was so strict with the schedule and precise on execution I still remember how warm up goes over 24 years later. I still use those exercises even though I'm an equestrian, not a ballerina. As a plus size girlie who wanted to be a ballerina dancer so bad I can’t tell you how much it healed me to see the PopPlus dancer…but I’ve been a big girl my entire life and was told by my parents I couldn’t do it until I lost weight. (In my adult life I also realize there’s no way we could have possibly afforded it) Obviously I never was able to lose it and still have horrible issues with weight management so seeing this makes me feel so much better for my future kids.😊

I can think of 3 chucks- 1- puppy pads / medical absorbing pads. Aka “chux” cuz you chuck them in the trash 2- reusable kitchen/ dish wipes- think pressed non-woven fabric with holes like mesh basketball shorts but thinner 3- Chuck Taylor shoes by Converse. I honestly wondered which she meant till the photo of the wipes! I could see using the insole of old Chuck Taylor’s as box liners, cut to fit. Cut up puppy pad for sweat absorption and a plastic barrier to slow down the shoe’s absorption of sweat (in a paste shoe). Or wipes like we used to use paper towels in the 80s and 90s. Secretly glad to see it was the wipes, as it seems the least “out there” to me. 🤣 Edited- oh golly, my kid just reminded me it could’ve been “up-chuck” so technically 4 possibilities. 🤢😆🤦🏼♀️💀

Someone probably already commented this but I'll say it just to be sure. A Chux, also called a Chux-cloth is like ( as far as I know ) An Aussie wet-wipe/paper towel/ square of fabric thing. Used for cleaning up mess like liquids - or anything really - but are more reuseable than a single-use wet wipe/paper towel . They are usually a blue and white stripe/checkerd rectangle that comes in a roll, like toilet paper. I've found that they die after awhile. I'm no ballet dancer ( I rollerblade ) but I think that they'd work well as toe-pads. Chux- cloths are pretty cheap in bulk though. ( Love your reactions. I cry and cringe with you)

Some of us sometimes, you know, we all have a weak point/s. But not at your level at all. We just jump, WAG landings are literally unhuman, especially on BB (the "Spieth sound"😖😣). Actually, the very first exercise at the barre is _plié_ (bending knees in different positions like the first girl at the supermarket) because warming up the achis properly is the key to absolutely everything. Point shoes tend to overload inner ankle tendons such as flexor hallucis and flexor digitorum. Males can suffer a bit more due to the specific leaps and jumps they do. 🧛🏻♀️🖤

I totally get not wanting squishy things that interfere with feeling as connected as possible to the shoe and the floor, but I don't get not having some kind of rub protection between your skin and the box. Seriously. I use terry cloth socks as pads, love it, but if you really want as little as possible, you could use a very thin sock to make a "pad" that would take up very, very little space but still provide pretty decent protection from rubbing.
