Regarding dancer hype: One of my most treasured memories that makes me feel good about the world was a time when I was working security at a cheer competition. The music cut out in the middle of one team’s routine and they were allowed to restart. But then it cut out the second time as well and they decided to keep going, so all the other teams started shouting out their eight counts for them. They could have so easily decided to laugh or boo or try to throw off their timing or even just do nothing - after all, they were in literal competition with each other! - but the entire arena decided to be kind and helpful. It’s been almost ten years, and it still warms my heart every time I remember it.

When I took my yoga teacher training I learned that a decent percentage of the population has gene that causes joint hypertension and stretchier skin. I also learned that it’s more likely for those people to have lifelong injuries because they don’t feel pain upon hyperextension so over time their joints give out after being hyperextended so many times. I hope that girl from the second video finds her balance before her joints fight back. 😅

My first pair of pointe shoes (1989, or thereabouts) were Capezio Infinitas (the first softer shank Capezio model I believe) and I still have them along with a few other special pairs. Back then we had to use lambswool to wrap our toes to make "custom" toe pads. Shortly thereafter lambswool toe pads came out but they were too thick until after they compressed and molded to your foot. Then gel toe pads came out, and I liked those better because the part under the toes was flat and so they provided padding where it was needed but you could feel the floor and articulate your toes better. I never got a great fit for my pointe shoes but my favorites were eventually Repettos that I 3/4 shanked myself.

Toe pads are practically the equivalent of me keeping my baby blanket despite being torn to shreds 😂
@Unknownentityfeline10 ай бұрын
Awwww, that's really sweet of you to do that!! My Mom had a piece of silk upon which she had hand-embroidered my full name in elaborate script, (having only just learned these skills), and then had sewn this onto my baby blanket. I imagine her as a young woman making all sorts of things for me, her first baby, and becoming increasingly excited as my arrival drew near! She was gifted with this ability and she made all kinds of dresses et cet. for me. She really was amazing in sewing, needlework, knitting, lace-making, cross-stitch, embroidery ~ all that kind of stuff I can't do! Lol It goes without saying that I still have that ever so soft baby blanket and a baby-sized (approx. 7''- 9''), knitted, stuffed doll that she made which was a piglet. It was just the right size for a new-born to a one year old to hold comfortably. I named it "Tumble" and in the interest of brevity, I'll skip the story about how she got her name. I decided that Tumble was a piglette, (a female), even before I was first able to speak. She now stays warm, wrapped up and secure in my baby blanket and I will keep these both in a safe place with me forever!! If you still have your Mom ad Dad (and/or siblings), in your life and you love them, try to tell them how much they mean to you and how you love them and appreciate all the things they've done for you, every day. This goes for friends, too. You'll never know when that chance to tell them will disappear, so tell them, as often as you possibly can, what is in your heart and how deeply you love them, and let them know why you love them so!!! Even when it's after terrible fight, never let them go without making sure that they know how much you love them and what they mean to you!!! Be Well!

@@Unknownentityfeline I love your reply 💕 I actually have one baby blanket that my grandma made that is a Winnie the Pooh quilt and the one that is basically all shreds in a pillow case tied up lol Some people think it’s weird or gross, I wash them don’t worry haha
@Unknownentityfeline9 ай бұрын
@@mariethelaw Awww, that's so sweet. No, you must keep things that mean so much to you because they represent so much from your life. The love your Grandma had for you, the new and long-anticipated addition to her family, just think of how happy everyone was about you, and you didn't have to do anything but exist ! Ha-ha! Well, eat, sleep, pee, poop. Lol!! As for keeping it, after many years, it will become too delicate to wash, in the normal sense. You might do more damage than good. My Tumble could disintegrate! So I just leave her as is, she has faded, survived two fires, been lost and then found after one, come close to being thrown away by my brother! She's been through a lot, we both have, but now she's in my "fire bag", safe where I can grab the bag in case of fire or idk whatever might cause me to have to leave in a moment's notice. I advise the same, for you for all you're importent papers and keepsakes, btw. I know you're not asking, but you're like me in that we both value these items in our lives and our hearts will always belong to the times, the memories that they evoke. And so, they are precious to us because they mean so much, they carry so much for us. And more so because someone who loved us took the time out of their own lives to think about us, and spend the time making something for us with their very own hands. Your Winnie-the-Pooh blankie came from, grandma's hands, directed by her thoughts under a desire for your happiness and security, warmth and knowing that you are loved, which came from a wish (to make a gift for you from her), that she had in her soul. How could you not keep it?? I'm glad you did, and I hope you will, forever!!! 💞 p.s. You apper to be Asian. I'm half Asian and your story about your Grandma had me picturing someone like my great-grandma, who lived 98 years on this planet, lovingly making the blanket for you, checking everything to make sure it was just right! Grandmother's and great-grandmother's are precious in their own right, sweet and cute, mothers have a unique role of being closer and giving intimate and immediate guidance and support. In short, family is key and I pray that each of us can have a good and stable one. For those who don't, my heart goes out to you, each and every one. And ultimately we are all family. 💜💜💜💜💜

I'm not a dancer by any means but I love these educational reaction videos. Also, I don't know if this is a thing anywhere, but if you have a ton of old leotards, why don't you do a scrapbook of a photo of each leo and a brief description of when you performed in it, and then donate the leos to a dance studio so that the dancers that cant afford brand new leotards have something to wear for competitions. Like the studio could rent them out to the dancers and the funds stay secured and then the funds from the renting of leotards go toward the student when they leave the studio, like for college, or going to summer intensives, something. Just an idea.

Question for Josephine! Also anyone else who knows anything about Sansha pointe shoes Josephine do you ever use Sansha shoes in fitting? I might need to schedule another virtual with you. I have a slight Sansha free pointe shoe with purchase from Sansha NY online hoarding problem 🙈 I had a follow up virtual fitting with you yesterday. I’m the one that was an early morning appointment and I said I felt like Cinderella in the shoes and that the heel stays on even without elastic! . It’s mind blowing you have this amazing ability and gift to know what shoes people need. Thank you so much again! I was feeling discouraged and down before and I want to let you know you have helped me persevere and gain back my confidence. So back to the Sansha brand 😅😅😅 I have a confession 🙈😅 I have so many Sansha shoes they sent me for free for spending over 90 dollars. Also for a few days they maybe made a mistake or it was super overstock they had ovation 3/4 and legende and others for $3!!!! Foolishly I was like “oh that’s basically free” in my mind 😂 Well they have no descriptions on the website and I’m not experienced enough to know exactly what I need by looking at the photos on their site. Also I always write in the box for instructions about the free pointe shoes and let them know what I need and they do get close but they just aren’t fitting right So of course none work for me 😂 some are close but also a few are like 2 sizes too big or more. Etudes, Esmeralda, Legende, Carola and some more I’m forgetting. now I have like 7 pairs of Sansha pointe shoes none of them fit properly maybe one or two kinda work but not as well as the ones you got me in so I have them carefully stored in my closet. I always tell the store what I need when I get to the notes for the free pair of pointe shoes and it’s always so so close but like baggy in the heel or too big lengthwise or the box isn’t right like too big or the vamp is too long or short even It is sooooo hard to say no to free pointe shoes when I can get them free 🤦♀️ I have this crazy idea I will get a local tailor to make them perfect for me Or that I will learn to sew well enough to get them to work. Like shorten the end and make the heel less baggy etc Is it possible to alter Sansha shoes with sewing and make them fit me 😅 Please tell me this isn’t possible so I go ahead and sell them for like a few bucks plus shipping or give them away and get it over with lol. Hope you are having a good day! Thank you again

I've still got my army cadets boots, toe cap bulled. They are too small and they got trapped next to a radiator for a few months, so the soles are melted and soft now. So they are use less for what I put them through when I was a cadet now. Still they're proudly displayed with my Irish Guards beret and corporal rankslide. Those were good times. And I preferred my old holey cloth for bulling my boots, and the applicator brush that was packed solid with old boot polish. Sitting down to bull my boots on a Wednesday afternoon was so therapeutic.
