I've lost count of how many newbies I've recommended this video to. It's saved me some typing time on various forums! Very clear explanations, Jim. Nice one.

Calling is for when it doesn't make sense to fold, but it also doesn't make sense to raise. :P We can call if our odds to draw out are in line with the pot odds. Check out his pot odds video for a more in depth look at the math behind calling.

It sucks to bluff with valuable cards and loosing with small cards while trying to bluff

What about probe bets? Aren't they largely for information?

Information is a bi-product of a good bet or raise...never the sole (or even majoriety) reason for betting/raising

But why not 3 bet for mixed image same as bluff 3-bets preflop what I’m saying is it raises you bluff 3 bet strength if you show your cards ? you don’t have the nuts but the street by street was strong

Can someone please explain why betting to protect a hand is a bad decision? Is it because of cold calls?
@cata92233 жыл бұрын
Yeah you’re exactly right people don’t always fold theres a defensive strategy people use in conjunction with pot odds it’s called MDF and refers to calling down light for huge implied odds. Sometimes the call is the strongest and surest way to get value at the table. MDF is best used sparingly as it’s risky and mostly based on player type and frequency and table dementia. At high stacks people bet to light so someone will decide to call you down before there even in a hand without you.

I love your channel, but I don't like the term 'villian' for it is defined as 'a cruelly malicious person who is involved in or devoted to wickedness or crime; scoundrel' and therefore i like the term opponent better.
@ThePokerBank10 жыл бұрын
The terms "hero" and "villain" are long-dated in poker hand discussion. The terms have a different connotation in the context of poker jargon :)
