Great, clearly explained tutorial. I have your book also. That and the videos have given me the confidence to have a go. My goal is to make a simple pop up card for my little grandson and gradually move on to make a pop up book for him and some pop up elements in a handmade junk journal. Thankyou

Thank you so much for these videos! I just ordered your book on Amazon. I was wondering if you can explain how the rocket ship looks like it's launching? thank you!
@thepop-upchannel49197 жыл бұрын
The underlying mechanism is a V-Fold with added creases. You can see a version of this in Tutorial 7 at 4.44 - in the rocket ship example the angles on the V-Fold are the same as the angles on the page so that when the page is open the V-Fold lies flat (this gives the rocket maximum movement). The rocket itself is a Parallel-Fold Tutorial 6 at 4.00 - in this case the Parallel fold is long and is glued onto the gully created on top of the V-Fold by the added creases. The nose of the rocket is explained in Tutorial 13. The clouds that the rocket rises up out of are another Parallel-Fold (Tutorial 6).

Hi Duncuan , Ernesto Again , very nice and important this and all tutorial, in my personal experience ,I cost a lot to find your channel on youtube because every title of the tutorial speaks of each mechanism, but if each title literally you wrote that is a mechanism of "pop up" would be easier to find it on you tube, I have to find your page first Google. I hope this advice will serve to have more views on your channel greetings and thanks again
@thepop-upchannel49198 жыл бұрын
+Aquiles Gonzalez Thank you Ernesto, that's really helpful advice. I suppose I'd just thought that people would be able to find the videos through the overall name - "The Pop-Up Channel". I'll see what I can do to improve the situation! Thanks again - Duncan

thank you for tutorial. i have a question about this mechanism. Can we calculate the angle of the top of the triangle..?? for example, can we create the right triangle (90 degree) and how to calculate it ??.. thank you very much for the answer. *I'm sory for my bad english.
@thepop-upchannel49195 жыл бұрын
Thank you - an interesting question. A Right Angle (90 degrees) could be easy - The most simple right angle triangle has sides of : 3 - 4 - 5. On the Pop-up the piece that was length 3 would be glued down 3 from the spine and the piece that was length 4 would be glued down 2 from the spine........ For other angles and different right angle triangles it's not so easy. If I wanted a specific angle at the top I would try and make it using trial and error - just make a small practice one and then adjust the measurements and make another. Part of the difficulty is that although it looks like a triangle (with three sides) it's actually a Quadrilateral with four sides - and My maths skills aren't good enough to work this out.
