You are not alone! Many of us are in community without “needing” constant contact!

Thank you 🙏 it is weird that what you say mirrors my life , I was called to homestead from the time I can remember. And when I turned 18 off I went. I am 63 . And I have loved the journey. Now I am teaching my great grandsons all four of them. You know busy kids are good kids .

Lots of good info! Perhaps you have covered this, but I would encourage all to get excellent home insurance. Our home burned down in a wildfire, and we lost just about everything, so having good insurance was a huge blessing. On friendships, I too am quite comfortable with my own company, yet attending a community church has provided connections I didn't know I was missing, as you said! One special blessing my great great grandma's 1880s rose survived the wildfire and is now 4 ft tall! Praise the Lord!

You are literally saying everything I’ve been coming to in my own mind lately. So THANK YOU!!!! We have to support ourselves and I agree, we can’t wait for everyone to come with us. We have to just stick true to our own vision and desires. 🙌🏼♥️🙏🏼

The part about being your own cheerleader really hit home. It seems that the wind can be taken out of your sails very quickly by someone else which really affects my drive. I know it shouldn't but hearing this has made me re think who I will share my excitement with next time!

Thanks for sharing yourself and your life. Your adventure and your life are very interesting and inspiring to me. We're in the process of building the infrastructure of our homestead and it so relieving to hear from more experienced people that we can't do it all at once. I know this, but sometimes I forget to breathe and enjoy what we have done. In the beginning everything was new and a trial. There's so much to learn and do it is easy to feel overwhelmed. I try to quell my spirit with an imagination of how the early settlers did things, how they survived, I think that they did what they could and recognized the need for rest. At least take a day to give thanks for all that you have and all that you have accomplished, it is rejuvenating to be grateful.

Project focused instead of relationally focused - I relate so much to how you describe yourself in terms of friendships.

If you have time to iron or dust ceilings (other than to get a cobweb) you have too much time on your hands.

I used to be able to literally lie down anywhere, and go to sleep. Now that I’m over 60, I cannot remember when I last had a great nights sleep. It’s super frustrating, to think how I used to be, versus how I am now. I also have MS, which puts me in dire straits with not getting proper sleep. 😢

Leftovers taste so much better heated on the stove or in the oven with a few drops of water. I don’t even keep food near the microwave that my husband wanted and uses. Radiation. Not a risk I take. Risk is used on ice cream and the occasional ding dong. And cake

Could I ask what religion you were raised in? I have a past too that was very hard to get through but now I'm saved. It's always interesting hearing others stories. Really enjoyed listening to your words as I stained my porch on this warm Tennessee day. Thank you! Hope you and yours are great!
