I know your comment is old, but I want to express my appreciation for your clear explanation to those who don't quite understand. X has been my role model growing up. Mega Man X has always been my favorite game, and I've always admired X's heart. The genius with his name as well. X, a variable, infinite potential. The way he contrasts with reploids, even humans in real life who think so logically to the point they forget what makes us human.

X was Cain's blueprint for Reploids, however, he couldn't built them exactly like X, therefore Reploids are prone to malfunctioning. Light built X in such a way that he is constantly evolving, to a point where he demonstrates the same qualities humans have, like for example, showing feelings, friendship, and worrying. X's potential derives from the fact that unlike all the other Replods, he evolves constantly and understands right from wrong. You could very well say he pretty much has a soul.

I know what you mean, I feel the same way! I grew up with classic megaman. When x came out I was becoming a teenager. Megaman was always a short kid, then x was like an adult megaman. So it was cool to grow up together almost literally lol

Ok. Light built X with very sophisticated technology; X was the herald of a new generation of robots who could think and make decisions on their own. Essentially, X was built with the ability to reason and adapt his behavior-human evolution. Since, at the time Light built X, the world wasn't ready for such a robot, and he was very old to further the development, X was sealed away in order to test his systems with various scenarios to ensure a proper moral programming: know right from wrong.

This OVA has no weight over the original games, as the canon was reshaped with the PSP remake, and further intended to with the others. For all intents and purposes, Dr. Cain died.

Let's take Boomer Kuwanger as an example: he's AI is based on logical thinking. Whereas X would save a human from harm because he worries for the safety of humans, Boomer would not simply because he rationalizes that that human is in that position of harm because he wasn't strong enough to survive-Boomer surmises that, like a weak Reploid, that human is of no relevance and contributes nothing to anyone.

As for Sigma, his revolt is essentially a boast of superiority over humans, as he believes Reploids are the next step of evolution. Humans are to him what normally humans consider robots to be: slaves.\ There, I hope that clears things up.

Hey bud, By any chance do you know of the "director's cut" version of this? It was fan made and here on KZbin for a short while. It took all of the cut scenes from Vile's story that took place during this movie and spliced 'em in chronological order, making for a much more compelling animation. It's impossible to find as far as I can tell, but I'm trying my best to track it down from fellow fans.
