#NirbhayaAfter losing the case, 16 December gangrape convicts' lawyers, AP Singh made controversial statements over Nirbhaya's character. He said one should ask her mother why she was out so late and with whom? The four convicts Pawan Sharma, Akshay Kumar, Mukesh Singh and Vinay Sharma were hanged at 5:30am on 20 March.

A P Singh, being what he is, has highlighted what is wrong with the judicial system in India in that it focuses solely on the rights of convicts at the expense of its own honour and victims' rights. This man Singh crossed all limits of decency, not to mention a civic responsibility of a responsible member of the society that any prudent lawyer would consider oneself to be. By implying that Nirbhaya herself, and not the convicts, is responsible for what happened to her, sadly, Singh raped her publicly in her death, which is more heinous than what the four convicts did. And all this for what? Money? Prestige? Obviously he harmed the victim’s side, but his immature, ignorant, insensitive and inhumane handling also did a major damage to the convicts’ side, especially their families for the rest of their lives. Singh insulted the constitution of India by petitioning to the International Court of Justice and other world bodies after Indian Supreme Court and the President of India rejected their petitions. To let him walk away with no penalty would only invite others to be a jerk that he turned out to be. At the least, he should be disbarred by the Bar Council of India.
