Credit cannot be just given to current government alone. It was Jawaharlal Nehru, who initiated the developmental path, whereas initial governments in Pakistan may have failed to do that work. Also , all the governments further have worked towards development. Pakistan's failure is also an example for taking terrorism in hand in the name of religion. India had never taken such a stand right from Independence and should not take that in future also. The current Government should keep that in mind. It's true that the current government has made the world to look upon India. But Is it transparent ? We do not know.... As Shekar Gupta said , if you are patriotic, You should not hesitate to raise voice against detrimental ideologies. If you are living in a BJP ruled state , everything may look fine. But most of the NON-BJP ruled states are suppressed by the government and not allowing the democratically selected government to act properly. Positioning India in front of the world is fine .... if your fundas are strong right back in your country.... Statistics are not transparent in this government. We people should be always alert and keep questioning instead of idol worship....!! Do not get into idol worship of any politician.

@@patelaakash267 Israel is formally a secular democracy where Judaism is privileged. It doesn't have an official state religion. Most Indians talking of Israeli example are unaware of this. And they think Israel is a theocratic Jew country, and that is their vision for India as well with Hindu State. Also, Jewish people in Germany and Europe were in minority vis-a-vis Christians when that persecution happened. Therefore a similar comparison for Hindus in India is not possible (being a majority population). Homelands based on religion is an idea of Abrahamic faiths who at their heart are all about 'centralized' existence with One God, One Book, One this and that. Over centuries, they've all realised that such restrictive principle of non-diverse centralized worship and Statehood doesn't yield much. In it, the social structure and then the State becomes power-centric around religion and tends to handover everything including economic governance as a matter to be interpreted and vetted through a religious prism. That is where downfall besets.. eg: Islam comes in conflict with capitalist interest based banking system, Christianity came in conflict with technology that challenged biblical beliefs, Orthodox Jews are in conflict with the theory evolution etc. That's why religion lost its relevance in Europe and even the Jewish state is so far able to be itself because in a historical timeline their persecution in Germany is still recent (75yrs back). Even then, it is already visible that the Statehood in Israel is overall detaching from religious identity. There isn't any such persecution parallel in India for Hindus, and thankfully so, in the recent history of at least 300years (post-death of Aurangzeb). It is therefore irrelevant to call for a Hindu state today, all the worse by citing the so-called 56 Islamic countries - none of which have any wish to take in other Muslims and none of which have known religious freedom and diverse cultural living. India has no parallel with of all these Abrahamic faiths' stinging issues. Therefore its a flawed logic to try and base the future Statehood of a strong and prosperous society and economy like India, on any religion.
@patelaakash267

@@denizoran every example you gave is based in your confirmation bias. Throughout history any religious group or culture that didn’t have its own land and geography has had to face threats of invasions from outside and inside. Irregardless of what the white countries did or are doing the Hindu community has had hundreds of years of oppression and the best way to avoid that again is having their own land.

So, India ever grows like China (which is very likely) it won't follow a hegemonic policy competing with existing powers. You see the problem with a left leaning journalist like Shekhar is that even though they desperately try to hide the frustrated leftist in them, it sort of seeps out. And whenever it does, it as always is never in their own country's benifit , unfortunately. It eerely resembles how the left media here in the West as well deals with similar issues. Maybe that's why i sensed his BS fairly quickly. In this video for instance which is supposedly made in praise of India and how it under Modi(clearly not his most favorite guy to hold the highest office in government) has done a better job at the international front compared to Pakistan. He starts off his analysis by mentioning how India played its cards well on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and how it has favoured India's economy. Now here instead of keeping it simple enough ,the implicit understanding of how Russia "the established villain internationally" benefits highly from such an arrangement he sees the necessity to mention it not once but twice and beyond just that, he strategically placed those observations in his opening statement at the very beginning of the video so that when someone like me who resides in the West( or anyone curious and unbiased for that matter) decide to check out such an analysis, those statements pop out and establish an initial impression of India as an entity that helps the bad guy in war. Being well aware of how important the initial statements are to set the tone of an article, This is a classic move that all of these experienced left leaning journalists make when they have to deal with a situation where the country that they represent does well under a policy and a government that they can never accept. Given i sensed this, i checked Shekar's background and his past analysis on India's stand on the issue and well and behold i was on point. It's time intelligent Indians see through the subtle BS propaganda these leftist media cells propagate and call them out for who they really are.

What Shekhar Gupta like many other like-minded, self-styled seculars refuse to admit is that HInduism is the cement that holds India together. When you are imbibed with an ideology from birth of "live and let live", "people are the same everywhere", "my religion is not the ", "God manifests himself in multiple ways", etc, all of which promote diversity in thought and a more than expressed willingness to accept the other man as he is instead of wanting to convert him to your religion, to speak your language, wear your kind of clothes or eat the food you eat, then you know what the meaning of coexistence is. Despite all the differences found in India, the fact that the practising Hindu accepts others' differences as minor details is why India is one and progresses as one. The real reason is Hindu thought, our Sanatana Dharma.

There's no point or rationale for an average Indian or India as a whole to celebrate our hostile neighbour's downfall. On the contrary we need to increase our focus on our own development and protect our interests in the global arena keeping in mind our ambition to become a super power. More attention to the weak areas amd work on them. The World is going through a serious phase of crisis,say economic ,political or environmental crisis. We are standing on a tremendously volatile juncture. Our present decisions will decide and shape our trajectory for years to come. Like a wiser person learns from the mistakes of others , India needs to learn in the same line from the economic crisis in our neighborhood, first in Srilanka and now in Pakistan and act preemptively. As the saying goes, "To make one's 'line' appear longer than the other's, one needs to draw a bigger line instead of erasing the other's line". That has been and should remain the collective effort of all indians and India, among other things. Simply celebrating at enemy's failure won't contribute anything to one's growth and prosperity. Words and actions resulting from mere blind Jingoism has not served and will never serve any purpose.

Nice article and video. The singular action that will save Pakistan is too drop all sanctions on Indian goods unconditionally. Trade with India and tariff free access to all Indian goods is the only salvation for Pakistan, not IMF bailouts.

Haha. Good one. Only they can't pay and our trading community isn't expected to do charity to them. Forget Pakistan, or their salvation. Not India's problem or duty. It is however our sworn duty to make sure of our own security - and if that means paying them back in their own coin - and doing whatever is needed in splintering Pakistan and China (yes both continually trying it since 75 years) then so be it. India should strengthen itself and pay these evil nations back. We shouldn't be in debt to any one - not even in karma. Karma works but it does need its karmi - India can be so.

I am a Pakistani, British, Canadian (despite being in the west), i do sincerely hope india and China settle their disputes, likely chances are that may help to let pakistan and india solve their conflict. I personally think conflict reolution between India and china would be a great game changer and would be the actual indicator where we can say that it is the century for the east. Hopefully we see it in our life time.

India-China dispute can only be solved when India's economy is of comparable size to that of China and when China sees India as an equal. And I agree, India-Pakistan issues will be sorted only after India-China is sorted out.

Peninsula is completely India bro, which is doing quite good for now. Peninsula is a Land mass surrounded on 3 sides by water (in this case the Deccan and Southern India). The wider Subcontinent in where Pakistan comes into the picture, and let's just say with cases like Sri Lanka, Nepal and to some extent Bangladesh, things might not be so Golden after all.

I like Shekar's philosophical approach to international relationships, especially since it tends to prevent things from getting out of hand. But there is still one thing that I, as an American, have a bit of trouble with. When we talk about a nation's values, and compare differences with other nations, there are areas of great sensitivity. Among these are human rights, gender equality, secular approach to religion, racial tolerance, etc. Following India's global behavior, I feel that they handle these issues very well, considering that they do come up quite frequently when dealing with others. However, attempting to take a neutral stance to an unjustified invasion of a small sovereign nation by a larger country's military force deserves a stronger response. As Modi said to Putin: "I know that today's era is not the era of war." His comment is widely quoted, and was appropriate. But for a country the size of India, to not join the others who voted at the UN to condemn Russia's actions, is a genuine disappointment to most of the world. (You could do that and still buy their oil).

two points 1) war was started by russia but provocation and failure to follow NATO-Russia agreement of not expanding eastwards lies on the west. 2) Indian civilisational values will never allow it to ditch a friend. Govt cannot take a unilateral decision as the west is used to see from dictatorial partener countries...look atound on youtube ...90 percent of pro-russia content is from "indebted" indians...Read About KARNA from Mahabharat.

India's current policy of NO WAR, NO PEACE with Pakistan may appear desirable to Nee Delhi, but it is not sustainable. An unstable and impoverished Pak is a greater and much more severe threat than a politically stable and reasonably solvent one. Indian planners must engage in a policy targeted to limit and maintain Pakistan's current situation in a way that it neither gets worse nor gets better. Sounds heartless and vicious but inevitably that would be the only option for New Delhi. They neither want a rich Pakistan nor an impoverished one.

13:23 What realistic? What humbleness? we'd rather have better trade with the middle east than Pakistan. A land trade route would always be very expensive considering the first two countries are Afghan and Pakistan. Iran and onwards we should renew our ties. A lot of potential there. We would rather be happy with Turkey and gang than with Pakistan. Dictatorships are outdated they should go ultimately. If any consensus is needed is with Pakistan-India-Nepal-Bangla-SriLanka. China is beyond Himalayas, It would be a grave error to bring Pakistan into the table with China-India Relationship. Please be a little more exhaustive Sir.

Shekhar ji is mesmerized in Bhakti. We can call him Godi KZbinr. I am not sure if he has got a good package for eulogizing govt. My question to Shekhar 1) if India is positioned so well in the global economy then why trade deficit is rising ? 2) Why Indian currency is not performing better than other Asian currency? 3) if Article 370 has solved major problems then why there is no peace in J&K ? Even Ladakh also saying that it's betrayed by govt. 4) Why unemployment is rising? 5) Why Tata Chairperson Chandrasekaran in Davos saying India needs 3 things i.e. Growth, Growth & Growth to solve all problems. 6) What happened to Govt promises for 5 trillion dollar economy and house for every Indian by 2022. 7) Why we are shying away from doing caste census? Modiji is doing something. I appreciate him but he is not delivering as per the expectations. India should see double digit growth but if it's not there we need to criticize him.The hatred politics which he is playing to win election and remain in power is very unfortunate and should be curtailed.

Mr Gupta...your fawning over Gen Chaudhry of Pakistan is interesting. Towards the end of your talk you mention his courage in writing his article as equal to any Indian's courage if he wrote about any impossibility of reclaiming PoK or Gighit baltistan by India. You try to draw a parallel there. Sorry. The Pakistani general writes that article when his country is close to implosion due to it's own misdeeds.when they weren't facing that stress they were gung ho about their thousand year war! If any Indian today writes that India should forget PoK he will definitely get a justified blowback. India isn't weak, compromised or delusional. However i agree that for almost 6 decades our left liberal media was parroting just that pessimistic opinion. Remeber the queues of those worthies outside the doors of hurriyats Geelani? So please don't try to create parallels needlessly. Peace is good. That Aman ki asha drama is not.

They want votes of specific group only , thats what hitting the opposition.
