i am getting back into skateboarding, i am having trouble finding my “setup” as well. used to ride anything over an 8, and not care about trucks. now my bare minimum board size is a 9+, and i REALLY care about the trucks. I really appreciate all the time, money and effort you’re putting into this. i have a few things, i think that may help you in your search for Animal Chin. First being to cut grooves closer to the wheels, as well as the middle groove, i see all the pros’ grooves tend to be over there, and i reckon there’s gotta be a reason for that, even if I don’t know what that reason is. Also, Professor Schmitt went on The Nine Club, and put out so much information about board geometry, it’s like a 4 hour episode, but a lot of the board setup stuff got put into clips and are shorter, he even broke down geometry of trucks and how different brands of trucks effect the wheelbase of the board, and even the tightness of the bushings can affect the geometry of the truck, and why it’s important to ride the hardness of bushings that fit YOU, and then measured a bunch of skateboard parts. I’m not hating, i love the videos!!! Hope this helps in any way!!

Get a Heroin Symmetrical egg with ace af1 66 and Spitfire f4 conical 97 durometer.

The reason the groove is in the side is because the cooing stops at the wheel .. might not be a bad idea though.. lol

Thanks for the comment. I've heard that video. Good stuff

That sounds like a great set up. 👌

Ace has a 95 durometer bushing kit. Get them, ride them & re-compare. Keep it up. ;)

The Rain Skate 101's you have on the aces are the by far the best wheels I've ever ridden. Best urethane out there.
@ProdigalSuns Жыл бұрын
I love those wheels too. I just bought the yellow jacket for myself 62mm 98a dude I love those wheels too. My second day today. I also bought a set for my son for Xmas. Have you tried those yet? Imo Rainskate wheels are the best 👌

Hey. I’m definitely a beginner. I made a groove in my Indys 169. Helped me learn the axle stall. Which never is a 100% axle stall since I always grind a little. But now I switched to aces 66 that don’t have a groove and I’m fine but I need to lock in properly to feel stable but I’m also fetting better in riding out stals that are bot so perfect.
@ProdigalSuns2 жыл бұрын
So you're not totally fine.. lol I use the groove for long grinds with wheels up. You're buddies were giving you a hard time right. Jk.. glad you tried it👍

Haha. Not so many buddies when you skate at 6am :)

@@ProdigalSuns I just got inverted king pin baseplates for my Indy 169- the ones with grooves. Had to make some adjustments (I ride Indys without washers and the thread on inverted kingpin was to short) but i got much more clearance now. They feel different from tha ACEs but I like them! I'll see if the groove makes it even better now

If you ride really loose you may not prefer it. Anyone else, YES

Its ALLLL preference, plus to many skaters have personal excuses for what works and what doesn't work my friend. Im still super down with 159's Independent trucks, since 1986 baby!!! LOose trUcKs for me with bones Soft bushing...LetsGO!!!!! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAHH buddy!!! If ya can grind em' Skate em'!

My only complaint on the older Ace's the bolts strip out and get loose, had a wheel pop off on me.

Hi, I know this is almost a year later, but I was wondering what would you reccommend for a new skater. I'm a 231lbs/105kg (1.79m/5'8" tall) and interested in learning tricks and casually cruising. I'm getting a 8.5" deck. Which one would be better for someone of my weight and height looking to do tricks and casually cruise around?
@ProdigalSuns Жыл бұрын
In my opinion 8.5 is too narrow.
@Shunderz Жыл бұрын
@@ProdigalSuns I could go for a 8.7" or a 9". What trucks would you recommend?

Great video. I originally rode Indy 169's on my Andy deck but way prefer the Ace 77's with Spitfire F4 60mm OG Classics. I feel like they fit the deck perfectly.
@ProdigalSuns2 жыл бұрын
Oh that's great feedback... I'll do that then. So that's your current ride.
@davejs16712 жыл бұрын
@@ProdigalSuns yes like you, I have several different setups but since the Andy board was released, that is my main setup and I always have at least one setup. I have went through about 5 on Independent 169's and the last two, I have used Ace 77 af1's. Honestly, I never thought I would ride any truck other than Indy's but I wanted something a little wider but not as big as a 215. The 9.5 Ace 77 af1 turned out to be exactly what I was after. I love how stable they feel and I think the response is a little slower than Indy's but still with as much turning radius so you don't have that twitchy feel that I ocassionally had when riding 169's.

This comparison is worthless stock bushing vs aftermarket? Two different decks? Definitely failed science class due to lack of understanding of experiments.

Lol, it's my comparison, you know what I like. I never use stock bushings, but I like the stock better than bones hard on ace trucks
