Absolutely! Great soundtrack! Was that the operation market garden level? I remember that level, it was so cool! I also like the level where you sneak in the nazi headquarters after distracting that pub with tipping the piano guy to pkay a song everyone sings and joins in all while in disguise and that level where you land in civilians' back yards and they have a trench gun! So I know I am late but did you know that Eisenhower had two speeches ready for D-Day ? One speech is for victory in D-Day while the second speech was meant for if they had failed at D-Day. The plan was that if they failed then Eisenhower would step down which I think would be understandable since if Operation Overlord failed then Eisenhower would have preceded over one of the greatest allied defeats. So it would make sense that he’d feel that he would need to resign if it failed. Speaking about D-Day, they had paratroopers land the night before (Brothers in Arms Road to Hill 30 and Earned In Blood have levels set during the night before D-Day and the same day). The paratroopers job was to take out naval guns, hold key areas and prevent reinforcements from arriving until the allied forces cleared the beaches. The drops however were so chaotic that you’d have paratroopers ending up having to abandon their assigned objective and join the men they landed near and help them with theirs. If I recall it took days for paratroopers to get back to their actual units. Also another lucky thing for the Allies was I think that there were meant to be tanks in the region but after a disagreement occurred Hitler intervened and have the tanks moved away from Normandy and not allowed to be moved unless he ordered it. They German counterattacks also got delayed since Hitler had believed the landing in Normandy was s diversion and the real assault would be at the port of Calais. The Paratroopers even captured a place called Brecourt (forget the name) Manor which had the location of every artillery piece in Norther France, the first tanks to get off the beach were sent there to aid the paratroopers. Also the reason that Normandy was so well fortified was because Field Marshal Rommel was sent there and had it fortified since he knew it would be an ideal place for an invasion and one of the most likely targets for an Allied invasion. Also if I recall the forces defending Omaha Beach was changed recently from a more inexperienced unit to veterans who if I recall had just been transferred from the Eastern Front, that part may not be accurate but I know they had transferred out the men defending Omaha for a more experienced force. Also there was meant to be allied tanks at the beaches but they ended up sinking their landing craft and the few that did get ashore were destroyed. One of the British beaches even had a destroyer or some other ship beach itself to give cover to the landing force. A lot of heroics happened on D-Day and the reason for its success was the bravery and hard work of the soldiers who fought there and all the effort went into deceiving the Germans into believing Calais was the target. As for Market Garden a lot of things went wrong there, German forces captured the plans for the operation on the first day when they captured one of the British gliders, so they knew where forces were generally and the plan for the 30th Corps to link up the landing zones. They also ignored the warnings of the resistance that an SS Panzer Division had been relocated into the area. And finally Montgomery, the guy who made the plan wasn’t even around for a portion of it and it was his aide (I forget how to say it) who filled his role at the time.

Yeah, there were a lot of things that went right and wrong that day. Also, I heard that the soldiers that morning were given too big of a breakfast. Another thing that was in their favor was the water slowing down the bullets

I really wish there were more games that covered the less seen fronts of WW2 such as the Pacific front, North Africa, even places like Czechoslovakia. Technically the first battle of WW2 was when a group of Czech soldiers resisted the German annexation and fought bravely despite knowing they were dead men if captured. Mark Felton has a video about the entire battle I believe.

Oh, I can add a lot more to that: 1. Everything in 1939-41. From Poland to Khalkhin-Gol, from Norway to Crete. 2. The Eastern Front (or, as we Russians call it, the Great Patriotic War). I saw a lot of Stalingrad, a bit of Moscow and a bit of Kursk. But the war in USSR was much bigger than that! Where are Brest, Odessa and Sevastopol which were defended for months? Where is Soviet catastrophic landing at Eastern Crimea in 1941-42? Where is Leningrad with its famine and the Road of Life? Where is Rzhev - a complete hell even by Eastern Front standards? Where is HUGE 1944 offensive (operation Bagration)? 3. The Resistance in... let's say everywhere but France. Norway, Poland, USSR, Germany itself, Yugoslavia - you name it. Oh, and badass Slovakian rebels who built themselves an armoured train - why aren't they in any game? 4. The Middle East had some interesting stuff in Lebanon and Iraq. 5. Africa outside of its northern part. Ethiopia, Madagascar, Congo - it'd be interesting in some game about Free France. 6. The entire Southeast Asia. Just imagine something like World at War in Burma and India. 7. China. There were 14 years of war against Japan - it'd make a good story.

Thanks for the vet donation thing. Helping people adjust back to civilian life and helping people learn civil skills is really important. I found the Frontline entry pretty depressing because one is all alone in a hostile environment. 30:31, the same happened in Vienna but instead of blowing it all to hell, all bombs got defused, and many soldiers deserted and went back to their families, many also helped the soviets to liberate the city. The battle for Vienna was pretty short. It helped a lot with negotiating the countries independence and all. + do you speak german?

Great to see MOH: Frontline getting attention! My first ever introduction to WW2 games was actually an underrated gem called Secret Weapons Over Normandy, an arcade flight game which starts you off from the beginning stages of WW2- from Dunkirk, the Battle of Britain, Midway, and eventually the final missions take place where MOH Frontline begins, D-day, where you take on everything and all these experimental weapons that the Luftwaffe has to throw at you while you help clear a path for the men on the beaches. Also the music for both MOH: Frontline and Secret Weapons over Normandy shared the same composer, Michael Giacchino.

I'm really glad you've decided to play this game, Professional. It is my all time favorite WW2 game and the game which really got me into history. No other WW2 game has touched me like this one has. In case you are interested, Jimmy Patterson's backstory was actually laid out in the original manual that came with the game back in the day. He was originally a C47 pilot on D-Day and was shot down. He and his surviving crew fought off a number of Germans before they were found by members of the Resistance. They helped Jimmy and his men to a port where they boarded a fishing trawler that took them out to the Allied Armada on the channel. Jimmy was taken aboard the USS Thomas Jefferson which carried the U.S 2nd Rangers. Although his survival had him nominated for the Medal of Honor, Jimmy realized that every man was going to be needed for the coming invasion, so he folded in with the Rangers and then hit Omaha beach. I remember reading an article about the development of this game and it turns out that the beach landing mission was a late addition to the game because they had seen the similar mission featured in Medal of Honor Allied Assault on PC and figured they needed something like it for Frontline. Also gameplay tip; mounted machine guns can also take out tanks as well as grenades!

Rommel was a victim of Valkyrie as Hitler in his paranoia thought he was part of the conspiracy (Rommel sympathized but did not take part in the planning or the execution of Valkyrie) The SS and the Gestapo placed Rommel under house arrest and offered a 'deal'; either face trial, lose everything, your family loses everything, or take poison and be buried with full military honors. Rommel chose the poison to save his family. The Nazis buried him with full military honors and said he died due to 'illness' I HIGHLY recommend reading the autobiography about Rommel written by his Great(?) Grandson.

I also remember that to unlock individual levels you'd have to enter monkey species in the enigma.

Regarding not sending Tigers in when D-Day happened, there was a major counter-intelligence operation going on which convinced the Nazis that several other locations were the actual invasion site (it didn't help that a dead naval officer was found with documents which detailed D-Day due to Mincemeat happening before this point). A Dark Docs video named The Fake WW2 Invasion You Never Heard About discusses this.
