I hope you can see that the culture and scale of human status games and wealth accumulation is what accelerates existential risk for humanity. You are a good person, but you just don’t understand yet. It was interesting to see the lightbulb flash on for a second in your mind when you understood AI should be a gift for all of humanity. You can absolutely speak out against prioritizing extreme wealth and status, and still keep all of your wealth and explain how you feel guilty about it, and of course everyone understands why you still keep it, nobody in your position would give it up, so just be honest about all of that because it will help steer the culture in a better direction. All rich people should . Stop defending it, you know we need to now evolve past it

Shared with my neighbor, a retired Chinese professor in his 70s, got the following feedback, the current China is not the actual founding member of the UN, it was the government that fled mainland to Taiwan, which now is a democratic society. The other is the idea of sharing AI technology and total transparency, it is great idea but will never work, because China will never honor the total cooperation agreement, I quote, "if you think the Republicans play it dirty, China will be 100 times worse". I've been looking at the AI/robotics scene and part of this pod discusses trust between parties around AI and by extention needs to include parties that develop robotics, fusion energy, quantum computing & nano-physics tech. Open source & democratise the tech & data. AI etc, if we allow it, can deliver the notion that we can create a world of total abundance; would that not be better than promoting the haves and have nots? Governments of the world need to pick up the pace and start to shape process, narrative, money (tax), culture, privacy, security etc. so these technologies can be assimilated into society in a positive way for the betterment of all. My fear is that the "nuclear" conversation is only possible between governments, while the AI challenge is driven by unelected, mercenary tech-billionaires that favour oligarchy. Their stunted humanity has no regard for societal 'greater-good' structures (institutions, regulations, welfare, security, health, safety, environment, freedom from tyranny, etc). And the USA under Trump is enabling them instead of harnessing their Aspergers for the greater good. ....Oh, and while some say Trump has only 4 years, in the exponential timeframes of AI one election cycle is the split second that lets the genie out of the bottle, and it ain't going back in: Weak leadership capitulating wholesale to predatory, Randian capitalism for the sake of what will, in hindsight, have become fleeting, illusory power. After that follows subservience to the unelected 0.01%. Step back and look around; it is happening.

Isn't the point of hyperacceleration to exponentially self improving AI the idea that a godlike intelligence will govern the welfare of humanity. So even if the path to it is biased toward an unfair control by small groups of people, that will be corrected by an aligned ESIAi. The hope is that ESIAI is max a few years from AGI and we are already at AGI. That's not enough time for a hyper concentration of power to take hold. Mo envisioned an ideal world of abundance where peace and human freedom can ever simultaneously exist. But that is against human nature, as speaking from history, human society inevitably will be a class society where select elites derive their whole value of existence by ruling others. This won’t change with mother earth’s absolute abundance. (Not sure if AI rulers would be but if they imitate humans, envy is the ultimate human nature to replicate) Any notion of a “one world government” that tries to forcefully maintain “peace” inevitably will oppress freedom because of unstoppable class struggles. Egalitarianism proved itself numerous times in history to be fantasy only to be manipulated by Robiespierre & Lenin etc for another kleptocracy, or in the case the USAID loophole for theft.
