Great vid Sam. Your glove was working very well in the game. Here are my answers to your questions... Goalie interference at 7:10? No, because the goalie's own player pushed your player into the tender. At 9:22, Yes to the penalty shot. The player with the puck had a clear path to the goal and was tripped up from behind.

Also I really appreciate that you value quality over quantity. It really shows in the quality of your videos - how you have your own sound effects and graphics, slow-mo, and the fact that you have three cams set up that all require editing. I also like that you don’t use dramatic effects or dubstep during or after play. You put a lot of work into your videos and it shows.

Hello, Sam. I recently become goaltender and have to learn by myself. Can you please explain why are you using VH stance near posts? Most of the NHL goalies use RVH stance and maybe we should too?
@D_weezy5 жыл бұрын
RVH is over used, and especially by us shorter guys over used in incorrect situations. RVH should only be used in tight and in wrap around situations. VH is a better option for plays that develop further out as it allows the goalie to better cover the top short side corner. RVH is also a very unnatural position to be in and strains every joint in the lower body
@ThePuckStopsHere5 жыл бұрын
Well said Wade. That’s exactly right. The RVH should not be a go-to save selection every time you are on your post. It opens so many wholes and the only really purpose for it is to prevent lower shots from getting in. The VH gives you a better chance at stopping pucks from a distance at the side of the net.

Hey, when you have compare your Goalie Stance to a NHL Goalie who you think comes in your mind?

Thats a tough loss in the last second. Good thing you played really well. Your forwards need to step back in your own zone, other teams get sooooo many second and third chances with the D just trying to power it up the middle after a rebound with no one there for support. Little to no communication up front, they made a pretty brutal tendy look great by constantly shooting it at him, and not picking that incredibly weak glove hand apart. Love the content though!!
@ThePuckStopsHere5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Gordon and yeah, we need to communicate a lot more and we should have had a few more glove side goals for sure. Hopefully my team picks up on that next time we play them!

Unfortunate bit of luck at the last second there, on the potential Goalie Interference I wouldn't have been surprised if they had called it back but think that it was a good goal, goalie initiated the contact and wasn't a lot your player could've done to avoid it. On thye breakaway for the PS I don't think your guy really had the clearance away from the defender to warrant it but again with some of the referees in the ASHL I'm sure some of them would've called it a PS

A Guy Who Plays Games Koolc4ts got it. You may want to put your glove in your more dominant hand but the more you play and work on it, the more natural itll feel in your other. If you’re a righty- glove on left If you’re a lefty- glove on right

Thank you two so much! This really helps, so I know what to buy.
@ThePuckStopsHere5 жыл бұрын
Have someone toss you a ball and see which hand feels more natural to catch with. Also, in most cases, you would use the opposite that you would as a player. So as a player I shoot right but as a goalie I use a left handed stick. Hope that helps.

@@ThePuckStopsHere I started playing in the early 90s as a kid when the butterfly was really hitting its stride. Our goalie coach showed us both stand up and the butterfly. However, we never really did butterfly slides (from the butterfly position). Its what I still struggle with today. I take a basic file to my skates to give it a tiny bit of an edge before each game, thats it. (More old school teachings...). So my style is basically half stand up, half butterfly. Whenever I drop to a butterfly, I get back up to get to the other side of the crease (if Im playing out at the edge of the crease). If Im close enough, I kick off the posts. Anyways, do you have any tips for recovering from one side to another while down in a butterfly. I just havent figured out what part of the skate or whatever to push off with. LOL!!! 37, playing like Im 47, but feeling like Im 17 again. Theres nothing like playing hockey. Thanks for your GREAT channel! Keep up the awesome work!!!

The Puck Stops Here yea I did a ton of research on sizing equipment based off of measurements. And I just messed around with a bunch of stick sizes until found one that worked the best. I find a shorter handle gives me the best stability and speed if I have a longer stick for some reason it always ends up caught in the netting! Lol but I usually wait for GoalieMonkey.com to hold there Buy one get one sale on goalie sticks! Last year I got 2 True composite sticks for $75.

Answers: 1) No, I think you should play as much as possible depending on your athletic abilities. However, playing competativly 7 days a week would be extremely hard on your body. 2) Fair enough, I just wanted to make it like the NHL ones so this is what I came up with. 3) It's different from season to season but whether it is summer or winter doesn't change how I play. and awesome.. can't wait to see your videos.

Goals don’t count as shots
@ThePuckStopsHere5 жыл бұрын
Shot on goal: A statistic in hockey that is awarded when a shot that a player takes or a redirection of the puck towards goal resulting in the puck either being stopped by the goaltender or the puck beating the goaltender and a goal is scored. Shots on goal by an individual player and for a team as a whole are counted and kept as a statistic during every NHL game played, whether a pre-season, a regular season or a playoff game.
