I am turning 50 this month.. I belong to the corporate world and mingle with C-level leadership and large companies. But when I get home, take off the corporates attire, turn ont he radio to Avail, Bad Religion, Lagwagon, Bouncing Souls and the such... Thanks you for the history we grew up in.

There was a timeline forking moment in my life that occurred at a Tower Records in the early 2000's. A friend and myself were in the store browsing and came across Bad Religion. We had by then heard 'You' in Tony Hawk but were overwhelmed by their large discography. A man in dressed in full business attire approached, reached into the rack, pulled out 'Suffer' and stated "This is their best stuff, they kind of sold out after that". We were taken aback that this professional looking man knew anything about punk rock, but immediately bought that record and the rest was history.

@toddholland6767 they're on tour constantly. I've seen them 3 time in the past 2 years. Going again in October. Great thing about luck band.. they don't make $ off of records, so they're always on tour

for me, No Control is the best of that 3 album streak from ‘88 to 90. it’s quicker and harder than the others and whatever they did to the guitar sound for that record just excites my ears.

Generator was the first punk album that I fell in love with. They were what brought me into the scene back when I was 16 in ‘93.

Excellent series. Bad Religion transcend punk with a message of pure positivity.

did you say "suffer wasn't the only thing they had to offer" on purpose? Referencing no control? if so that is so good

Listen to the band Shattered Faith. Especially songs Trilogy and Right Is Right. Not to mention the crossbuster. That band was the biggest influence on early Bad Religion.

Good job, man! Dig! I have been to 5 of their shows in the 90s and mid 2000s. Never disappointed.

Another great video in a stellar series, I was a little young to catch a live BR show in this era but I think I might of mentioned it in the last video that there was nothing like seeing a Bad Religion show in the mid 90s. Man they really got the crowd hopping with their oozin ahhhs and all Greg had to do was point at the cheap seats.

i've seen bad religion at shows in 7 different states -nj, ny, oh, ga, ky, pa, and their first show ever in tn (i also was at their second show in tn a few years later. they haven't been back since then and that was 5 or 6 years ago). i actually saw them twice in 3 days - in philly on a friday night, and then in nashville 2 days later. i have also been to nofx shows in 6 of those states (they've never played in tn, although they did stop by during their book tour for a signing event.)

When Suffer came out there were several LPs by bands that pushed the new sounds that would build the Landscape of the 90s. People forget how important 87-89 was to the 90s

Now I know they are not as popular as other bands that have been on the show but I think doing a episode based on the Blue Meanies would be very interesting. Considering that a lot of bands that got big such as Alkaline Trio and Flogging Molly played with the Meanies before being famous. Also their music is just so innovative and creative. Their horns are probably the tightest I’ve ever heard.

Beyond even their music, I was also attracted to their image. Not tough guys, not party guys, not goofy weirdos, not edgy-for-the-sake-of-edginess. Smart and sincere.

Looking back, the crazy thing to me is that I could discover Bad Religion so early, living very far from California in the Paris suburbs! a bandmate that was older than me hipped me to them around 90-91 and so I bought a vinyl copy of No Control. that independent network of shops/distributors/labels/zines worked really amazingly well! It also probably helped that France and especially the Paris area were going through a punk rock boom of their own....("rock alternatif").

You could probably make a 3rd video on them about their late 90s slump and their revival in the 00s, which is the era when I became aware of them and they had a large impact on the punk scene their too. Also that Brett part from his time first producing in the mid 80s is illuminating, where he helped produce/engineer any type of genre, and really makes epitaph signings of 'non-punk' acts make more sense.

Can you do a video about Farside? I know they are more post-hardcore or whatever, but a video about them would be cool
