Very good video although I have to disagree about deathrock being less intense than horror punk, and this is coming from someone who loves both genres. Horror punk is and always has been more campy lyrically and typically upbeat with its riffs. Deathrock on the other hand is much more hard hitting. From early-Christian Death’s razor sharp guitar sound and dark lyrics, to voodoo church’s lyrics being more fun but the sound bordering on metal, I can’t say that horror punk is more intense. That is okay though, because they are different genres that are pretty different despite their close history

You said that DK played their final show in Feb of 86 but they are listed as one of the many bands to play with DRI on their 4 of a kind tour in 1988. I distinctly remember because that tour officially obliterated the wall between punk and metal. Other bands to take part were agnostic front, kreator, Sodom, sick of it all, holy terror , warzone and many more from both genres. The show I saw in NC was with kreator and sick of it all. As for DK idk if it was a partial reunion show or who was involved but they were definitely scheduled on some of the tour dates.

I'm honestly amazed that anyone would be inspired to start a band by freaking television. I get that they are supposed to be important as an early punk band but godd@mn they were awful. Especially when the Ramones, the weirdos, wire and the dead boys were available.

As a 53 yr old punk rocker I feel I need to offer a little bit of input on the whole Tim/Brody situation. It's not an excuse but maybe a little insight from the other side. Imagine being a 30 something world infamous punk rocker who still lives a punk rock lifestyle complete with a big ass mohawk and spiked leather jacket. How many women your age do you think are gonna be interested in you? Honestly. Everyone gets lonely and when someone shows you some attention it's hard to ignore it. Especially in a scene that was never overflowing with available women to begin with.

Yeah it would be awesome to see a Fugazi episode, one of my favorites. Minor Threat are good too, i like Out Of Line the most because of its bit higher production value. Same thing as with Rock For Light being my favorite Bad Brains release, except it's also for many amazing songs that were not on the debut. I'm not exactly straight edge, but honestly not far as i never tried any illegal drug and i rarely drink. So even though my enjoyment on bands is mostly based on the music itself, straight edge is certainly nothing i have a problem with as long as it's not the hateful groups. Also the fact Fugazi are very anti consumerism is cool in my opinion.

Does it really surprise anyone, that a band of lunatic leftie activists, would behave in this manner? I mean it’s always the lefties, who are morally superior, and more loving and accepting, than all us plebs, that commit the most heinous, and unloving things known to man, and do it under the banner of “your. Raciis, your a homoophobe, your a sexyist, I’m better than you”…. Yea…. I gotta say… no surprise here…

We get a lot of hate because we basically pioneered the modern queer punk movement. You literally wont find more queer folk anywhere else. Of course multiple scenes mix but one of the reasons "traditional punk" hates it is just simple bigotry. Theres a lot of old punk bands that have no business calling themselves that. LöC with Stza beating up both Nico and Whitnney and somehow people still go to their stupid shows. Basically the cis het "punks" that are bigoted are the most vocal about hating folk punk. However folk punk is the truest form of punk given the origins of folk music itself being rebellious and for freedom.
