yo can you do a video on the Socal Skacore scene. its probably be hard since its underground and theres to many bands but i think it would make for a interesting video. its pretty dope, majority of it is a mixture of mexican/latino sound with, jamaican ska, and hardcore punk.

Poison the Well is probably one of the most underrated bands of all time. You Come Before You (one of the best Metalcore albums of all time imo) was unlike anything else that had ever come out before it, and to this day stands out as something beyond Metalcore. That album was deep lyrically, and instrumentally they were experimenting with new sounds and ways of writing songs. Anyone that hasn't heard You Come Before You should quit whatever you are doing and listen to that album. You can get a new job later.
@wolfhawk19995 жыл бұрын
@TheWellDisease hell yeah. Definitely. You Come Before You has some bangers, but some of the songs have bad connotations for me so I can't listen to them (Loved Ones and The Realist for example). Love them, though. Got to see them on their reunion tour. It was a lot of fun.

Bands like PoisonThe Well, Eighteen Visions, Bleeding Through, Throwdown, Most Precious Blood, Terror, Walls Of Jericho and It Dies Today were my favourites. This video also reminded me on how good Hopesfall were. Totally forgot Bullet For My Valentine started off on Trustkill also. Poison the well was always a band that was ahead of their time. They basically invented the metalcore sound and then in two albums managed to transition to a sound that to this day is still super unique. Eighteen Visions also had a very southern hardcore vibe that a lot of bands later expanded on. Trustkill was definitely a super influential label for metal music as a whole.

Great piece, I listened to a lot of trustkill bands late 90s early/mid 00s, Harvest, Nora, Most Precious Blood, etc. I get why a lot of people didn't like Brothers Keeper but I loved them.

I skipped out on my High School Prom to go to Hellfest '03 with my friends. Trustkill was seemingly at the top of the world at that time. Great to see coverage of the bands from that era.

Awesome video Finn - really appreciate all of the historical and behind the scenes looks at a lot of the I enjoyed in my younger days. Opposite of December and Tear from the Red were two really influential albums for me and my friends in the early 2000's. Both records are still getting lots of playing time to this day. Keep up the great work.

Would you ever do a video on Coheed and Cambria? Coming up in the woodstock/NY hardcore/emo scene up to making some of the most ambitious prog projects around?

I remember street teaming for trustkill throughout Puyallup & Spanaway here in Washington. Various bands..Throwdown, 18 Vision's, Bleeding Through. So much time spent at Kinko's making copies & cutting full sheets. GOOD TIMES!

Killer vid my guy! I had no idea about the early years of trust kill. Just the last decade 2000-2010. So cool! Insane how influential all of those bands are on hardcore/metalcore.

Do a video on Victory Records! Atreyu, Silverstein, Hawthorne Heights, among many others. Huge hardcore/screamo label who would also give you a sample CD with different songs from bands on their label. Great marketing concept!

I don't know if you read comments, but I am a similar age to you. I was growing up in my parents house when Trustkill Records had a functioning website and had bands such as Eighteen Visions, PTW, hopeskill on their label. I remember saving up my money and buying PTW CDs and posters, I can't remember what else I purchased. They sent me either a free pin, cd or poster. Wow, my memory is terrible. It's great that you made this video. Its highly nostalgic for me. I remember singing Nerdy in the hallways of my high school.

Poison the well was a big band for the label, and for me. Checking the trustkill website for new bands, releases, downloading the videos from pukrockvidz or whatever that ripping site was called. remember ordering the hellfest 2003 dvd online, i was primarily into thursday and the emo stuff but got exposure to a bunch of bands through the dvd and eventually getting more involved in the local scene and playing in bands. Lent the dvd to a friend back in the day and of course never got it back. Greetings from Croatia!

Thank you for talking about Poison the Well. I asked in a comment once for you to touch on them and was really happy when I heard you talk about them! I remember also mentioning HORSE the Band in that comment, and even though you already discussed the whole trancecore thing in that Attack! Attack! video, and gave a shoutout to Enter Shikari, I would be interested in a video on why Nintendocore never took off. I was a 15-16 year old kid in Romania that was really into retro gaming when I first heard HtB and the gimmick really clicked with me. And that band kinda got me into metalcore (at the time I kinda only knew about nu metal being a thing). That made me wonder if other oddball/gimmicky/novelty/niche bands, like iwrestledabearonce, Okilly Dokilly, etc have acted as entry-level bands into hardcore/metal/heavy genres in general, for other people?
@Yoshizoid5 жыл бұрын
Here's a topic: what were your people's first bands that got you into certain genres? Like, my first skramz band was Circle Takes the Square. An older high school friend told me about them, saying they were a real emo band lol. That band then got me into Converge, which got me into Dillinger Escape Plan. On the metal side of things, Mastodon and the band Isis got me into sludge metal/post-metal.
