Great breakdown as usual. One thing I noticed was how much better Caleb has gotten at presnap adjustments. I think it’s saved him from being sacked or chased out the pocket on numerous occasions.
@cobragrunt72952 сағат бұрын
Was waiting for this one. Love how 85 is "our boy" now! Did anyone notice that Caleb's only bad throw was the Int? He didn't miss any other throws in the game. He was 23 of 29, with 2 batted, 3 throw-aways, and the int.
@james_robnettСағат бұрын
And the INT was simply a failure to step into the throw, it wasn't a bad read he just tried to arm it. As soon as it left his hand I thought 'oh shit' because it had so much air under it. If he steps in and drives it it's either an incomplete or a TD (haven't watched JT's read yet so curious what he has to say about it). I think he's over thrown so many of those deep passes that he tried to finesse that one. That's exactly the kind of INT I can live with, just failed to trust and rip it. That will come with time.
@moose4ku44021 минут бұрын
I think throwing into your own lineman's head from 2 feet away counts as a bad throw. That's not a normal batted pass

As a Bears fan I appreciate when you point out things you think could be better like personnel decisions, even when it is a positive play. Your reasoning is always sound since you are looking at their skill sets and thinking about what would makes these plays even better. It has been fun to see the growth of this team, but when you put those thoughts out there I can't help but wonder how much better it could look if guys were in a position that more compliments what they are best at.

Agree on having Rome run the downfield routes when they have the option. To add to that, Moore excels with the ball in his hands, so he would be better served as the check down option on the plays where you offer Caleb both.

It's not like what you're saying isn't valid so idk where some of these people are coming from, but I'll just say this. These are new guys playing with this particular OC for the first time, so I think they just need more time together to see what they all do together well. As a Bears fan, I couldn't agree more about the personnel decisions. Rome literally has at least 1 big PI or holding call for a first down on big 3rd downs in every game. He's been cookin' with his routes and quickness even when we aren't getting him the ball. You can tell he is still engaged with his body language, and still puts full effort into his blocks. I believe he's earned it, and we are not using him to his full potential yet. It's similar to how we were misusing Swift in the early part of the year, not getting him involved in the screen game or out in space enough. My biggest hope is that they are able to self scout over this bye week and figure it out. It's the #1 thing I'm looking for going forward with this offense (since I don't believe the interior of the OLine will get fixed without a trade or potentially an O-Line coach replacement) Always love your stuff brother. Thank you so much for these ✊
@h.l.priest76812 сағат бұрын
Completely agree with you about Wally Shotty & his personnel usage. Drives me insane. For my, it should be #2 & #15 with a little bit of #13 sprinkled here & there. It does 2 things, keeps Keenan healthy & gives Rome the work he needs to become what we expect. Also I would have the some deep shot plays for #10 (Scott) & use Keenan on 3rd downs or red zone stuff. ~JMO~

The final step for this offense will be marrying the personnel to the play like JT keeps harping on. The design is there. The players are there. Once Waldron puts the right skillsets in the proper spots this offense is going to be scary. I am hoping it is all part of a masterplan and he realizes DJ Moore shouldn't be running 9 routes all day when you got the legs of young Rome over there running 1 yard smoke routes. That is what should happen over the bye. More efficient use of personnel in every play.

Is there a "seniority" element to a WR room? Like, you have to give Allen looks over Rome in a lot of instances? I feel like you want Keenan's input on coaching up the rookie QB, and like in basketball when you've got to feed the big man to keep him engaged, maybe the WRs know who the featured guy on each route is, and you can't get Rome as involved as he should be yet?

Bear DOWN!!!!
@dakinglipСағат бұрын
So on the three straight plays you showed, I think you got the analysis of the last two wrong. The first run play was about as ideal a defensive look as you can get and it showed The second run the interior linemen switch so it should have changed the assignments. Kickout from Kmet, Lewis and Wright on the double to the outside backer, Shelton and Pryor doubling the now nose to the middle backer, and Jenkins and Jones double to the safety who dropped in the box and it's probably a touchdown. Jones kicking out was the minus on that play The fade route is another minus on Jones for again going out instead of washing the 4i down
