I feel like the Devs of Megaman Maker gave life to the Skull Barrier, as giving you the ability to walk across spikes makes it unique as a barrier. But since Megaman Maker is a fan game (Liked by Capcom still standing), It doesn't hold up to the actual weapon itself.

You wanna know how bad the Skull Barrier sucks? The Legacy Collection actually advises _against_ using it to fight Dive Man. When a Robot Master's weakness sucks so hard that you're better off not using it _at all,_ you've got a _serious_ problem on your hands.

How to make each weapon on this list better: Mirror Buster: have it be a weak, but fast arrow projectile. Keep the base effect when held down, but also have it gain extra power when it reflects a projectile. Time Stopper: Just let you switch Weapons, and or let you fire the buster. (Edit) Have the Time Stop be able to be toggled. (Suggested by EpIC ZeRoZz) Water Balloon: Increase the Damage, and or cause a burst of water as an Aoe Attack. Power Stone: Put more Rocks. If it needs more, than let us hold to charge it, being a make-shift Barrier for the duration of the charge (The charge will be short, and will instantly fire after fully charging). Oil Slider: Give more protection... and if that's not enough, let us be able to hit the fire button during the slide to fire it as a projectile (Like the Ground Spark from Shovel Knight). (Edit) Let us have multiple shots on the screen, and possibly let it burn on non-fire stages (James Vaz). Spark Shot: Have it be a regular shot when tapped. However, when it is held down and let go, it releases an AoE stun field. Either this or let us switch weapons. Thunder Wool: Have it sorta like Rebound Striker (From Strike Man in the same game), Except it goes in a slight curve, and when it makes contact or the button is manually pressed, releases a slightly lingering electric field to damage. (Edit) Fire Two Wools on both sides that leave a constant bolt, that burst into AoE electric ball when the cloud is hit (conlia), increase pretty much everything about it while giving the cloud contact damage (Bi0nic H0g), or have it become an 'electromagnetic' black hole that increases damage when the cloud is hit prior to exploding (K REAL [yes it is] BETA 創造的な ). Skull Barrier: Have the barrier have more than one hit, and possibly have it increase damage for every hit of damage that it inflicts. Sakugarne (Ohhhh boy): Give it more invincibility, or let us do a dismount jump attack after charging it (Leap off of the Sakugarne, pushing it down on enemies to cause damage, while also giving you a high jump), then having it bounce back up to us to ride and use again. (Edit) More damage, and cause rubble to fly when it attacks (Suggested by James Vaz and FutiabaDantie Dragon, respectively). Deep Digger: ....uhhh... give me a sec... okay, here's what I have. Have it sorta like the Revamped Super Arm from Power Fighters, except instead of firing a rock, it'll launch a wave of rocks in a crescent arc (Like Shovel Knight from Smash Bros, though changed to cover a bigger area). Hope these ideas interest people... or it'll go down the barely noticed pile of comments. Edit: Wow. This got more recognition than I thought. Thanks for the 100+ likes. I have been looking at the replies.. I think I'll add some to the main list (W/ Credit, of course).

I love the idea, but a couple suggestions. The Oil Slider - How about being able to use more than one on-screen at one time and maybe being able to ignite the oil on non fire stages. Quint's Sakugame - Forget the protection, make the weapon a real futuristic pogo stick. Have the weapon actually do more than 1-2 HP damage TO ALL ENEMIES.

Got a say, your improvement idea for the spark shot is definitely better then mine (because my idea would ruin the game) Basically the spark shot works as a chain attack, the enemy will still get shocked and be frozen, (you can also walk past it.) and if another enemy get’s near it, they get paralyzed , but was to boring for me, so I made up the fact that the robot explodes ending 3-4 pieces of debris at other enemy’s repeating the process. But the skull barrier, the improvement could use one last improvement, you can launch the skulls in a sped fashion (Basically one of the 4 different skulls could go in one the 8 directions in the game. Up down, left, right, etc.)

I love almost all these ideas, but if I may put my 2 cents in: Instead of making thunder wool another rebound striker, we make it into a weapon that sucks in enemies like an electro-magnetic field and when enemies are below it they get destroyed. If the weapon is intercepted instead of it dissipating, it does more damage.

For thunder wool I would make the cloud bigger, faster and also do more contact damage, the thunder would also be bigger, maybe making it go forward would work aswell

A lot of these got buffed in fangames like the Make a Good Mega Man Level series. Thunder Wool in particular becomes way more useful for taking out enemies because the cloud doesn’t despawn when it hits an enemy and it has longer range. Sakugarne became really useful for pogoing off enemies and spikes, and it got way more ammo and firepower.

(Time-Stopper) Megaman stopped time and used his Stand *THE WORLD* to consecutively punches Quick Man,The only reason it doesn't damage others is that all the other enemies are cloaked with Hermit Purple's Hamon.

*10.)* If it was a projectile attack that was more akin to Pit's Guardian Orbitars, there wouldn't be much issue. *9.)* You also forgot to mention that they revived said weapon in Mega Man X5 in the form of the Dark Hold. *8.)* You pretty much said everything that needed to be said here. *7.)* To be fair, Mega Man 5 does have some pretty good weapons like Gyro Attack and Crystal Eye, and some especially fun ones like the Gravity Hold. *6.)* It's like they took the charged form of Chill Penguin's weapon from the first Mega Man X, and made it even more useless. *5.)* And the funny thing, according to canon, Spark Man is supposed to produce greater amounts of electricity than Elec Man, so that only makes the Spark Shock an even bigger insult to injury. *4.)* Kind of ironic when the worst robot master of a game gives you a better weapon than one of the better robot masters. *3.)* And for my money, it's even more useless in Smash 4. *2.)* Even Scrooge McDuck couldn't make good use of such trash. *1.)* Uranus... Deep Digger... God, that particular Stardroid is just one big walking innuendo.

At least the Skull Shield protects against attacks, and has better energy efficiency than most early shields. The leaf shield doesn't even do that, and if you move, it flies off. Other than the contrived use on moving platforms, it's completely useless.

I agree with you not only that the shield flies off the immediately after you walk who thought that was a good idea? Also he mentioned that it is good on moving platforms great that’s like 4 times in the whole game where it is useful. At least the skull barrier doesn’t fly off when you move and it only uses two energy power the leaf shield uses 4 energy. In my opinion the leaf shield is easily the worst shield weapon of the bunch. The leaf barrier doesn’t even block bullets!!

in regards to the flash stopper, there is one spot I always use it. the last stretch in Bubbleman's stage with these crab things coming down. I always feel more comfortable freezing them before going across those bridges.

As a defence of each weapon on this list. Mirror Buster: When you're playing a game where 90% of enemies shoot at you, bringing up contact damage seems like a stretch. Additionally, the counterattack hits through shields, making it more useful than your standard buster. Time Stopper: While situational, it does also keep enemies from spawning in the first place. The Crash Man ladder climb is a non issue as long as it's active, the moles in Metal Man's stage, the Matasuboros can't blow you away in Air Man's stage, the roosters won't come in Wood Man's stage, the only stage you really SHOULDN'T use it in is Heat Man's stage, as it delays the Vanish Blocks. Water Balloon: This weapon is as strong as an unupgraded charge shot. That's spam potential. Power Stone: First off, the weapons in 5 are great, they're just tough to master. Power Stone's strength comes in the fact that it's a good anti-air tool. Pukapellies and Lyrics crowding you are cannon fodder for these things. Oil Slider: Two Words: DOUBLE JUMP. This thing is a speedrunner's dream tool. Spark Shock: ... Okay, Mega Man 3's my favorite game in the series and I can't defend this one. Boss Killer's all I can think of for it. Thunder Wool: Impromptu barrier. Keep advancing enemies from being alive. Plus, if an enemy doesn't die in one hit, it hits multiple times, making it a really good Miniboss Killer. Skull Barrier: First off, I'm surprised you didn't mention the fact that the Legacy Collection recommends using the Mega Buster rather than his weakness weapon. Second off, I'm in total agreement here. Can't really defend this one. Sakugarne: Alright, the bouncing pogo stick is funny, I'm gonna say that, and that's ALL I'm gonna say. Deep Digger: I thought we weren't counting Power Fighters for this, otherwise Power Stone doesn't deserve a spot here. This weapon is an improved version of Super Arm. You have the block throwing ability, and you also have the ability to shoot. You don't even show this off in the footage! Dishonorable Mentions Atomic Fire: Charge Shot Fire that OKHOs most enemies. Top Spin: DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY ENEMIES DIE IN 1 HIT TO THIS THING!? IT CAN 1 HIT THE FINAL BOSS! Charge Kick: The best cheese weapon in the game. Scorch Wheel: Useful utility! Not all weapons need to be high in the damage department, otherwise Thunder Claw would be here. Plug Ball: This goes so fast that most jumping enemies won't have enough time to jump before getting hit. It's not a weapon meant for airborne enemies, and the only ones I can think of are the Tellies, the Birds, and the Projector guys.

Top Spin secretly really good albeit bugged most people try it on an immune enemy see it drain all it energy. But used on non boss enemies that aren't immune it always a one hit kill. The monkeys in hardman's stage are made way less annoying with top spin and they just one annoying enemy killed by top spin.

@@arthursnyder6424 That's actually due to the same bug in the NES version of the game, you're doing damage every frame you touch Gamma's weak point. In the Genesis version it where top spin was fixed the developers changed it to be an instant kill.

@@arthursnyder6424 Top spin being active every frame until you land is an oversight by the developers. The only enemy it work correctly on is apparently the Heat Man Doc Robot. Every other boss and enemies immune to it cause it to drain weapon energy every frame Megaman is in contact with them until he lands. Enemies weak to it are insta-killed no questions asked; In some stages it is one of the easiest options.

Also the fact that in Powered Up, you can fire only ONE. SHOT. At a time. If you misfire, you have to wait until either you find a way to quickly use it, or just WAIT for it to disappear.

Now that I see this, I'm glad Cutstuff mads changes to some of these weapons for 8-Bit Deathmatch. Mirror Buster now has one shot but any projectile is absorbed to make the shot do more damage Thunder Wool has a radial effect and does consant damage Spark Shock slows enemies and does some actual damage And Skull Barrier works as an extra hitpoint

One thing that keeps Thunder Wool from sucking completely. It helps with dealing those enemies that wait in bottomless pits and kill you by simply touching you. It also slaughtėrs Pump Man. Situational, but stress relieving.

My take on improving the Deep Digger/Super Arm: Basically have them work as Guts Man uses it in Powered Up, with the Weapon Energy being used to summon a compatible block and the actual picking up and throwing being free of cost.

12:48 Dive Man has a secondary weakness: the Dust Crusher. Deals 3 points of damage, which is the same as a charge shot. I recommend _that_ instead.

Like with the thunder wool I wish it was more how in Metal Slug's 3, the thunder cloud weapon actually flies of enemies and shoots out lightning after each shot. something like that would have made the weapon more useful and more strategic.

@@jamesbutlerx64 It's indeed supposed to be used strategically thanks to the remote movement control and detonation, but everytime the weapon is useful you only have to aim it slightly upwards/downwards or just straight out hit something in plain reach. The weapons's sheer power outweight it's maneuvering problems thanks to the way the stages are designed

Funnily enough, they fixed the time stopper by letting you turn it off and on in a mobile port of Mega Man 2... no not the stupid official port, but an unofficial, actually functional port of the game that fixes a few of MM2's mechanical flaws strangely enough

For Oil Slider you just need to hold backward to slow down and Elec Man automatically get damage without you needing to jump.

My Opinion on How These Weapons Can be Improved or How They Should Have Been 10. Mirror Buster: Make it damages enemy on contact. 9: Time Stopper: Make it so you can freely turn it off. 8. Water Balloon: Make the balloons a bit bigger. Either make them bounce a bit or make them pop into smaller pieces that scatter. 7. Power Stone: Make the rocks rotate in the direction you're facing. 6. Oil Slider: Grant invincibility. 5: Spark Shock: Destroys enemy with 1 HP. Be allowed to switch weapons once enemy is paralyzed. 4. Thunder Wool: Make weapon move and detonate by remote control. Make it consume less energy. 3. Skull Barrier: Make it so it only break against large enemies. 2. Sakugarne: See Make A Good Mega Man Game 2. DISHONORABLE MENTIONS Atomic Fire: Make it charge faster and consume less energy. Make full charge shot shield breaker. Top Spin: Grant brief invincibility. Charge Kick: Make it pierces Water Wave.
