There was a debate on TikTok where people were talking about whether or not people should love their marriage partner more than their children. I got so much flak for saying your children should be the first priority because partners come and go. This is where I think this mentality comes from. When you have young, underage children in the house, you have no business prioritizing your happiness over their safety and happiness. So many people are so flippant about having and raising children. It’s so sickening. And I hope you are doing better after what happened ❤. You deserved better.
@xletragedyx10 ай бұрын
@madlie2452 it's not fashionable, but I agree with you. Of course I put my child first. We decided to create her. She's helpless and still growing. Mental and physical wounds we give her now can affect her for her entire life. I can focus more on my partner when our kid leaves the house and can take care of herself. Prioritizing your kid doesn't mean it's 100% about them, 100% of the time. You put their needs over yours, and usually their wants over yours, but you don't put their wants over your needs. It's all balance. Sometimes we go to things she'll enjoy but we won't, but not all the time. More rarely, we do something we'll enjoy but she won't (watch boring grown-up TV shows). Usually it's something she'll enjoy that we don't mind much. We prefer family events over kid events, etc. Everyone in a family can thrive together and be happy, but I don't see how that's possible if you put an adult partner first, especially if it's not your kid's parent.

Sadly there's just way too many parents who bring in partners they don't really know and then the partners start to get wildly inappropriate and sexual with their kids, as someone who has had this happen to me when I was 17 (my mum brought home a guy in his 60s and he was absolutely disgusting to me) and it happens way too often

I've been in a very similar situation before (thankfully minus the reality show) and those kids are NEVER going to stop resenting Molly for this, however many years go by. They'll still be bringing this up in fights when she's 101 years old, as they should.

I’m 38 now but went through something similar where my mother got married and moved someone in without really knowing him😒. Got mad when I asked her not to because I didn’t know him and neither did she. That didn’t end well either. Parents should take their kid’s feelings into consideration.

I'm a Dominican that was born in the states. And I can tell you. There are a lot of scamers from the mother country that just get with Americans for a green card. It happened to 2 friends of mine and I warned them too. The moment they got to the states after a couple of months they broke things off and left them. And the old school Dominicans in Grain in the heads of their kids that you need to get married and have kids, that you can't just have someone to mess around with. The conversation has been talked about with numerous family members that live in the Dominican Republic. And i'm like no it's my choice what I wanna do. So yeah I knew he was a scammer from a mile away.
