The pussies ruined that. They're scared of speed. 660' brings in a lot of unqualified drivers. I started racing 1/4 mile runs before I was 15 years old... 1969/1970 Ford Mustangs and 1969/1970 Dodge Super Bees. We ran the hell out of those cars... learned a lot and major fun.

I remember growing up working in the waterbox this was always a wednesday night race. Getting up for school with shards of rubber up my nose sucked! The track record for pro mod was 6.59 by Bill Kullman......slow by today's standards. Have no idea how I remembered that.

was i hearing right did i hear 845ci at one point?
@godragracingMark10 жыл бұрын
Yes, I work with the Pro Mod association, most of the supercharged cars are between 522 and 526 cubic inches, Turbo cars are usually 670 cubic inches, Nitrous cars vary, from a small 768ci to a large 866ci. Rules keep these cars very competitive.
@YoungSalvaje10 жыл бұрын
godragracingMark I like how you consider 768ci small.

I love all cars from the muscle car era. I was a corvette fanatic years back and loved camaro's and owned 2 of them. Later got behind the wheel of a 5.0 mustang, Chevy have a nice day! A far superior engine. These big cube engines are all Ford spec big blocks. Said thing the media hides that. The Chevy big block in these classes of high horse powers have become obsolete. NHRA has always been henchmen for GM to keep Chevy in the winners circle banning Ford and using rule books to govern them.

This is my opinion okay, I've watched drag racing since the late sixties, thesrw cars are wicked fast, their engines I as am sure, are works of engineering brilliance........but they look all the same man. Except for paint and stickers to look like grilles, they are basically the same. Gassers on the other hand, are 99% different configurations. So while I like these cars..I don't personally love them. IMO
@jeffw.18549 жыл бұрын
If that's the case I can imagine what you think about todays funny cars; talk about being all the same!
@MikeMizz19639 жыл бұрын
jeff w. Hi Jeff, you're spot on. I feel most funny cars these days are basically frame, 8,000 hp nitro huffer for power and some crazy fuck to drive it. My idea of "funny cars" are the older a/fx cars, which were the birth of today's cars. I love the old f/altereds, the gassers, the FX Were the bomb. Chevy had the aluminium 409 with 427 heads. Ford had the Thunderbolt. Pontiac had the 421 super duty Tempests. Jeff what I am saying is I love it all. I am just saying the cars of yesteryear had more character.
@brandonsheets17239 жыл бұрын
Michael Miserocchi Very valid point, but that is why there are still plenty of Stock and Super stock races, not to mention numerous different nostalgia leagues. Kind of a new school vs old school deal, and I love em both!
@hoyt_arms6 жыл бұрын
When you get to this level. EVERYONE has it figured out. They all know how to make the most horsepower. You're right most the motors are the same. It all comes down to who's the best driver and who can handle all that power the best. That why guys like Jason Line, Greg Anderson, jeg coughlin and Warren Johnson have been so dominate over the years.

Top Doorslammer has no limits too and drives faster than pro mods. But Extreme drives faster because of the use of gas I think. They have it like Top Fuel I guess but much weaker engines than them

Still Doorslammers drive faster? Hmm... Doorslammers has ''no limits'' which make the get how much horse power as they want to, which make them more powerfull than Pro mod but Pro Mod Extreme is A LOT faster than pro mod and doorslammers.

When you pop the hood on these Chevy's you see racing, and you see a symmetrical head. What you are seeing is a FORD spec big block. They have nothing to do with Chevy. All your motors in Pro Stock are all FORD spec big block. This is what the media keeps from the public. The same as the LS engines which as well are FORD designs.
