It's amazing to think that the fog in the original Silent Hill was firstly implemented as a way to mitigate the hardware limitations of the time, but then it turned into such an identity of the series that, in my opinion, no horror game will ever come close. Really looking forward to playing this one, this series shaped the gamer I am today. And the person, to be honest, as nowadays I'm a published horror writer. Keep up the good work, Brad!

@@eternalbliss3487 I would say thats not entirely true, Fog that was used in older games was to increase fps by limiting how far you can see, that still exists in new games and works the same without causing FPS drops. But when they decide to rather have it as a visual effect then ofcourse they want to make it look good too by using graphically intensive effects.

I was 25 in 2001 and got SH2 because I had SH1 from '99. I was kinda mad it didn't follow Sh1's story at the time, but the more I got into it, That feeling left me. Sh2 has stayed with me even until now. I'm glad I'll get to play it again at 48, and happy it's looking like a great game remake.

I'm currently 32, I remember when my older brother made me play the first Silent Hill in our room alone lol. Then Silent Hill 2 came out and we were in love. The fog lets them maximize the look and graphics of the areas you are able to see at whatever given time. I like that. And I know a lot of games cut off lines of sight and stuff like that to limit how much has to be rendered at once but I really like the sharpness and crispness of this games graphics.

Murphy Pendleton is one of my favorite game protagonists ever. While SH1 will always be the series best to me, I felt Downpour had the far more complex father protagonist. Harry Mason never wavered from his mission: Find and rescue my child. Murphy, having already lost his child, really had to wander and reflect to find cause. I will also be forever haunted by the Blue Ribbon sidequest conclusion.

I rarely comment on brads videos but i start watching the channel when he played the game before he started murdered soul suspects, the silent hill series came out when i was a teenager aswell im 36 on sunday i fell out of love with gaming from 22 to about 31 then i bought a ps4 and bought the old versions of these games and played them the memories were amazing then I started playing fifa and realized EA are all about the money and all the games stayed the same then i started on the souls/borne/elden games and the witcher and ive been hooked since and i must say the time i spend on my computer has kept me out of trouble. silent hill has always been my favorite series by far. i remember being 6 years old playing silent hill 1 on my ps1 and any time i would hear scary sounds i'd jump 5 feet from my bed (so the monsters couldn't get me ofc) to shut my ps1 off. i can't believe it's finally here
